  • Seeking More Eco-friendly Resources!

    Hi Everyone!

I'm pooling my eco resources and want to make sure I haven't missed anyone here on Biznik, or anyone here that knows of people outside of Biznik that might be good contacts. And, that others haven't missed you as well!

Most importantly right now, I am looking for products that can contribute to the event ambiance at the Conscious Choice Green Festival After party I am decorating for! This means foliage, fabrics, recycled products, including art, jewelry, etc., products one uses like spa stuff...and so on. Basically, if its green, sustainable, recycled, eco friendly, I want to know about it!

Several Biznikers are already involved: BiziBee Floral, Country Meadow, In Harmony, Urban Weeds.

So, in case I've missed you, please connect! Additionally, if you respond here, then perhaps someone else won't miss connecting with you too!

  • Free Tickets to Green Festival!

If you volunteer just 4 hours at the Conscious Choice booth at the Green Festival April 12 or 13th, you can get a free ticket for the green festival! It's basically flashing your pearly whites, handing out magazines to those who approach the booth and answering any questions they might have. Sandy Fox is the contact and she is FABULOUS! I can't imagine it's going to be anything but total fun to hang out with that gang for 4 hours.

If you are interested, contact Sandy at: 320-7788x10 sandy@consciouschoice.com

Tell her I sent you cuz she wants to know!

Also note that this is the same weekend as Seeds of Compassion event that the Dali Lama will be at, just so you don't schedule yourself conflictingly. That would be major bummerage, eh?

I'm volunteering first thing Sunday am.

    Cheers, Amy

  • Window Clings not Sticking

The clings of our client are curling up at the bottom. They have been uninstalled and reinstalled with a squeegee, to no avail. Our printer says she's never seen this happen.

The clings are in a restaurant and we are wondering if they are not sticking due to the humidity of the environment?

If so, then unfortunately, we'll have to go with stickers, which is less optimal b/c obviously, the client can't take them with him when/if he leaves the space at some point. We think why not conserve resources and also be most cost effective by doing clings but perhaps that is not possible with this situation.

    Any advice/experience from the pack?

  • Are YOU Attending Events?

This year, I made a decision to get my feet in more with the events. 1- I have the time now and 2- It's great fun to learn new stuff, meet new people, etc. and 3- I am making some great new connections!

I have an average of about 2-3 events per week scheduled right now! WOW! Are we going THAT strong here?! Go us!

What about you? How is your event attendance and your feedback on attending more/less events? Can you squeeze one in each week EVEN IF you are busy?

  • Form 1099 or other??

    Hi-

I was told I have to file a 1099 for a designer who i contracted to work with me on a project however, I can't find a 1099 form that fits any kind of definition that is correct for her services.

She is not an employee. She is her own entity.

If not 1099, what form is correct that I file with IRS of the money I paid out to her and for her records too?

I heard this is due today? This being my first year doing taxes involving anyone but myself, my learning curve is slow on the uptake.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom! Amy

  • Portlanders Meetup - Mon or Tues!

Let's meet up for coffee or happy hour! I'll be in town both days. Eventually, there will be more warning on plans and I aim to get to event posting at some point too.

I've heard Portland Bar & Grill is a good place for happy hour. Any feedback on that?

Once we get ourselves up and going, I'd love to see a regular monthly happy hour hosted by myself and others of course. I can't always get down there every month!

And of course, we can get some workshops going too! Think about what you'd like to offer - check out what Seattle stuff is happening for ideas - and let's get you Pdx'ers up and rolling!!

Monday or Tuesday? coffee or happy hour?
