  • Weekly Meetups!!

there has been talk of weekly groups for supporting each other and i know a few already started.

who wants to be in a once weekly morning group that isn't already? i will arrange a north-ish seattle group.

anyone else chime in if you want to arrange a group for another location!

sometimes it helps when others support the lighting of fires under our arses! haha.

  • Your Mad Skills & Talents Wanted!

so i'm on board with jacob sayles for Office Nomads as the interior decorator :)

this is an amazing opportunity to get involved with your biznik community and to support it on several levels. we have needs for several types of services and talents! imagine what totally awesome biz promotion this will be for you!

as soon as the space is secured, we'll be heading in to re-design and decorate. we are going to need the following services to get this fabulous space started up within a month from acquisition. please respond if you'd like to be in on this project. having more than one of each would be good, in case one is too busy when the project is ready to go...or you could work together as well.

electricians - pulling out existing and re-wiring for new overheads and re-wiring for networking, electrical outlets, etc.

painters - to add that special colorific touch

artists - we need artwork for the walls. possible ballard art walk participation. in other words ON space would be a gallery too!

movers - for moving acquired furnitures and such into the space

floor refinishers - pulling up carpet in lobby space to reveal and refinish floors beneath

carpet cleaner - cuz its great to start with a freshly cleaned pad!

carpenters - random projects will need doing.

i'll be making a contact list and getting in touch with you when the space is ready for revival!

    woohoo! so exciting!

  • Office Environment: How does it ideally feel?

if you could have the ideal office environment, what would it FEEL like?

what would the decor be like?

    colors?

what inspires you in your office environment?

thanks for putting your indie cents in!

  • Biz Naming, Tagline, etc. Brainstorm Meetup?

just got done posting in the elevator pitch thread and came up with this idea...

who would be interested in meeting up with others to brainstorm on biz names, taglines and elevator pitches?

some of us need all of three. some of us only need one or two of those. some of us are already set with ours.

this would be open to everyone, established in this area and not, because feedback and brainstorming with others is great!

depending on the size of the group, we could split off into smaller groups for brainstorming sessions and come back together with our ideas and results.

this was done before for just the e-pitch and was helpful for many. for those of us still pondering, waiting for the right name, etc. to pop into our indie brains, maybe this would help move the process along.

for those who are already set, your presence is welcome, to help us get "set" too!

i would be honored to host and facilitate this event.

so, who's interested?! big indie grin

  • Any Eco-Friendly Artists?

Wondering if any of our artists out there have experimented and/or committed to the use of eco-friendly products, recycle materials for use in their artwork, etc.?

I know some art cannot be done that way, or yet, anyway. Eco products pop up on the market every day!

If you are one, or know of some, please post linky links! I'd love to have a database of eco-artists for my clients' spaces :)

    Blessings, amy

  • Consignment Shops that Pickup??

any of you know of consignment shops that pick up furniture and such for selling in their stores?

a client is wishing to unload all or most of her furniture and have someone take care of transporting/selling it for her. she is in kent so i need someplace that will go there.

i know she can donate it anywhere and they will pick it up. she has some really nice stuff though so it would be great if she could use proceeds from selling to get new stuff.

    thanks!

  • Great Radio Show for Indies

    hey biznikers!

ive been listening to 1100AM radio every morning and they have a great small business forum. i think its every morning at either 8am or 9am. its hosted by the man who wrote "is small business for you?" which is apparently a well-sold book nationwide.

anyway, i have been learning some very interesting tips on that show so i thought i'd pass the word...

    cheers, amy

  • Looking for a Willing Subject

    hi biznikers!

as i wrap up my schooling adventure, one of the projects is to create or re-do a business identity and create "collateral" materials to go with the identity. collateral can be anything from a notepad to a press kit. there is to be 5 or so collateral pieces in addition to the business card and letterhead, which can include a logo too.

so, i thought of all of us biznikers, some who are just getting started, some who are not..and i thought, maybe someone here might be interested!

my team partner and i are looking for someone who wants or needs these things for their business. you would be our client. we would meet to discover needs, etc much like normal business. the difference is, at no point will you ever be under obligation to purchase any of the resulting work. However, that is definitely a possibility!

any bites? or, know of anyone who might be interested? they dont have to be a bizniker!

have a fabulous day everyone! -amy

  • Blog site update!

my blog has a new look! come see :) feeback much appreciated.

i like it much better than the last version. Blogger is a great site. I can customize colors, type, etc. and its a pretty easy navigate to find out how to do these things too.

If you already have a google account, Blogger is the spot that is linked to google so when you are logged into email, it auto logs you into blogger too. i love connected features like this. yay!

    happy blogging!

  • It aint just for couples anymore...Valentines Day.

    hi 'nikers!

happy official day of celebrating love!

just want to remind you that it's not about whether you are coupled or not. love doesn't care. love just IS. it keeps this world going. whether its a love for something, someone, a topic, an activity...it's love!

take heart to that...and honor this day in whatever way feels right to you to honor the wonder of love!

live well today - and every day!

    blessings, amy

anyone here have any theater connections or recommendations of who to contact specifically to get his foot in the door? a "so and so referred me to you" would be great", as well as any other recommendations/connections.

    thank you!!

  • biz name feedback

im considering changing my biz name and im looking for some opinions.

while i like it, i havent been opposed to making it something else if i found something that fit.

there have been some misunderstanding about what i do under my current name...spirit and soul design. using my name isnt doing it for me.

my focus is environmentally friendly design.
i am quite eclectic and can provide that thru design as well. my designs are for interiors and graphic needs - print and web.

a few new ideas: eclectic earth designs eclectic earth design earth eclectic design earthbound eclectic design earthfriend design(s)

any feedback on my current name or my new ideas?

    thank you!

  • Local Printing Resource (Seattle)??

    hi-

i know about lots of printers here in seattle - the question is who to use?

i prefer to NOT use kinko's. i've had several disappointing experiences with them and i'd prefer to use a local shoppe or smaller "chain."

i dont want to use mail services. this is going to be my resource for my clients and you can't get a test print done with them. need to be able to walk in and see how color has come out, etc.

so, who has used local resources in seattle and what is your feedback?

    thanks!! amy
