  • Ken, I agree to what you have said about this great website - Biznik. In my case i have got more than what i could ask for since i joined - Be it opportunities, business, contacts and getting to know some great people and am sure that year 2009 would be even better because of my association with Biznik...

  • Well Kate, even i felt that handicap. At the moment the initial search limits you to a distance of 500Kms. Once the first search is done then only it's possible to disable that distance option!

My suggestion/request to Biznik team in this regard if possible would be to :

    1. Make search "category" specific without taking into account location of the member. At the moment the search is location specific(City to be precise). This is a big handicap for people looking for broader exposure like me as the city that i belong to hardly has any sizeable number of members. It would be much relevant if all the members can be classified as per their categories. The option to further refine the search to the liking of member can be provided.

If the above point can be looked into then it would act as an incentive to members to improve their position in their respective category and also provide them broader exposure. As of now me standing out as a web developer amongst 2 members in my city is hardly anything to gloat about!

  • Hi Todd,

I have a slightly different take on this. Iam sure you are a successful person and your time is valuable to you in terms of opportunities you can develop/generate in the time that you are going to spend on this dead lead. Incase it's not a substantial amount why bother wasting energy on something which robs you of your precious time and of course money which you will have to spend on the venture to recoup your money. I have had these kind of experiences in past but i always become wiser and now i doubt if somebody can pull a fast one on me by applying checks and balances which i have evolved over a period of time...

Moreover as per eastern philosophy the guy by not paying you can neither make a fortune nor can he rob you of your luck! Just move on and spend your time on finding better opportunities and clients thereby making most of your time. You will be a much more happy and contended man at the end of it...

    Best,

    Anita CM

  • We are getting to see lots of froth coming out of Horse's (Google) mouth these days in SEO field. First it was SEO- Starter's guide and now Search-based Keyword Tool. What's next...

  • Giannina, when i deal with my clients (all of them are from either US, EU or Australia) i make it clear upfront that i charge my fee in US dollars and also i make it very clear that i will be adding all the addon fees, charges, transaction cost to the final amount to be paid by my client...

If you don't add all the cost involved in receiving money from overseas clients you will find that quiet a bit of money is lost in transaction costs and you will eventually be getting an amount which is significantly less than what you expected/negotiated in the beginning...

PS: If you are using Paypal to receive money from overseas clients then this tool will come very handy to you http://ppcalc.com/

  • Good rules Kevin, but then don't you think that's an ideal scenario. East or west politicians belong to same tribe and their favorite slogan is "Rules are meant to be broken". So even if a arrangement of the kind you have proposed comes into effect people will find ways and means to circumvent around them...

  • Had a look at your website and found it to be perfectly fine. Moreover if am not wrong your business is doing well too. I would suggest against any change to your existing business name unless you really feel otherwise - Why fix a thing which is not broken! Infact you can think of positioning your existing business brandname even better by offering new, better and niche services...

  • Thanks Chin for that insider info. I guess they want to name their new OS as Windows 7 - Read about it on Techcrunch today. Hope it turns out to be better experience than Vista which in my opinion had more hype than substance to it...

  • Hi Shea,

How do you do? I have been working on this site http://www.siteometrics.com for some time now. It provides free SEO tools and is free to use. All the tools have been coded by me. Though there are many sites of this kind now but when i started working on it ie 2005 there were few of it's kind. I once again wish to revive it and am spending time on it these days.

Could you please have a look at it and provide some valuable thoughts/suggestions of yours as what could be added/done to it (new tool) which can add value to it and make it more helpful to people looking for free SEO tools. Any other opinion/suggestion about it would be most welcome and highly appreciated as well.

    Regards,

  • Thanks Dmitrii, Valerie, PJ Harris and Jay for sharing your thoughts. Iam sure lots of people out there would like to know first hand experience of people who have made transition to Vista before they make a decision. Like it or not sooner or later people will have to make a switch to it now that Microsoft have stated that from next year onwards they are going to stop shipping XP. It would be great if Microsoft can make it much more likeable to users...
