As the founder of S.C.H.O.O.L., I am very excited to say that our first fundraiser was a major success! I learned a lot, and we raised enough to file most of our paperwork. The website is up, and the blog is up. We have a lot of new things underway, its very exciting!

With more and more shelters closing in the area, the need for helping the homeless has never been greater. Families are the fastest growing population in the homeless community, and the end is no where in sight. With the ever weakening economy, everyone is scared for themselves...[more]

With more and more shelters closing in the area, the need for helping the homeless has never been greater. Families are the fastest growing population in the homeless community, and the end is no where in sight. With the ever weakening economy, everyone is scared for themselves, so who is forgotten? Those who need the most help.

Contrary to belief, the most common cause of homelessness is not laziness, but poverty and domestic violence. In 2005, over 13% of the US population was living in poverty. I would tell you the figures for 2008 and now, however after over 1.4 million homes were foreclosed on last year, and the economic sitiuation hasn't been looking any better, so for right now, I don't even want to know myself.

Through this organization, I hope to inspire people to help end the cycle of homelessness by helping families. Check our website for all of our upcoming events! [less]
