Marian said, "This is one of the best articles I've read on social media. You finally made sense of the connection between business and personal in social media communications."
I couldn't agree more! Somehow my personal self always overruns the borders of my business! Go figure. By bridging the chasm between the business and the personal in a holistic way, your article helped me realize that the two can be easily integrated through the natural gift of storytelling.
As an only child and latchkey kid, I spent a lot of time alone after school - practicing the piano, teaching myself chess, and writing poetry. By the time I reached 15, I'd accumulated a book of self-written poems. Somewhere in the confusion of the teen years, I stopped writing and by age twenty my book was lost.
That was many, many years ago. And though I've often thought about that book, I've never felt inclined to write poetry again ... until recently, when an idea took root. I embraced it and posted it to my blog before fear (of inexperience, uncertainty, exposure, etc) could set in.
The response from readers (by email) was supportive and affirming. The result: I feel freer to blog and share from my heart, authentically. And my readership is growing along with my confidence.
Thank you for affirming our natural gifts and the desire to be authentic in business.
