  • John,

I'd have to say it depends on what you're starting with, how much of a perfectionist you are, and how threatening a presence you really want to have within your target market, and how lasting of an impression you want to make with your current market.

Most printers charge a lot for design if you want something that's not in a template, generally because this isn't their forte and they farm it out. Generally takes a bit longer as well, but not always, obviously.

I would say the most cost effective thing to do in the long term is to nail down a logo that works with your vision and target market, do the rest of the branding (all can be done by wonderful experienced marketer as well), and figure out what you'll need in order to present yourself and communicate with your current and desired clientele. Come up with a plan then pay someone to do it once, once the foundational stuff is done it's easy to put it all together generally. Then, you have a solid foundation to build on and everythings put together, not leaving the rest to chance.

I love putting marketing packages together for people and have loads of experience doing it for start ups, people redefining their look, etc. Also, I have a deal with my printing company, since I use them exclusively, and am able to procure quantity pricing for Everyone ie. buy 300 cards and pay as if you just bought 5000. Let me know if you'd like some assistance in putting the look you imagine together.

  • Hello Fellow Aquarian ie. Sir Jacob:

Consistency is key. Does your business in every way reflect what you are offering, and more importantly, who you are trying to bring in?

Where are you coming from and where would you like to go? How will you have to adjust in order to make this happen?

Solidify your mission and figure out who you really want to work with, then see if your space and everything else that you use to identify your business and service, matches this. People's perception of the space / service may be different than what you intend, or are trying to attract.

Foundation is key and marrying everything to match your intention will make all the difference. A good marketer can help you with this through surveys, market research, strategy, branding and much more. Most notably if they speak the language.

Openings and deals can only do so much, if things don't match or speak directly to your target market, you'll be wasting time and energy, although hopefully enjoying yourself and taking satisfaction in knowing your spreading the light, yes, as it is in the end about the work 0:)

Being profitable, efficient, and actually attracting what you want doesn't hurt either, though. I could definitely assist in making Arcania a success, give me a shout if you'd like to make that happen~

  • Elke, wow!

What a road. Crazy how life uproots us from all that has been known in our life and says : new!! now!!

I believe wherever we are is exactly where we are meant to be, however treacherous the circumstances, however raw they have made us feel, in the end, all we can do is create, and that is beautiful...

I have been healing from a major assault for the last four years, and know what its like to have everything you know disappear very suddenly, including health, work, family, etc, all the big ones regardless 0:) But oooh where its brought me is really somewhere cool in the end.

I would say, release that is no longer serving you and try not to be blinded by the plethera of opportunities and endless adventures that you now face... there is strength you've yet to discover...

And if you make it up my way (seattle), give a shout!! Blessings on your journey

Ooh and a possible business opportunity exists in teaming up with other healers/practitioners for some group stuff (like with myself possibly) and offering something totally unique and new, tying in two audiences, etc

    Love & Light Avi

  • Hi Robert ~:)

In response to a couple of your questions:

I've found that for the clients I've done mailers for, they've found them to be very effective. They also help you to stay in the eye of the client with a steady presence, most notably if the design pops, as they may keep it around just for this, then think of you when they're in need...or recommend you, or someone else could see it, or all of the above, ooOoh the possibilities are just lovely.

Also, with regards to handwritten or not, I'd say go with an easy to read font that will catch their eye, while tying in to the nature of your business. There are soooo many fonts out there there's absolutely no reason to use the same one that most everyone else uses! Stand out! Also, stay consistent, it's best to have just a few fonts you use in general ... and I can definitely help you with these endeavors and more!

  • Thanks for your notes and ideas, found them to be quite interesting!

I agree that most business owners just decide to do something then hit the ground running. Many cut corners when it comes to key elements such as research and development, branding, identifying their market and whose already in it, marketing, etc. Then wonder what went wrong...as a marketer though, it boggles me that people do see it as an extra.

Marketing and research are a bit different though. One is building and the other suggests putting it out there. I have recently taken a break from my 'marketing' or rather advertising efforts and been spending quite a bit more time on development and deeper studies into my markets. It has been paying off!! And operating from a much more knowledgable and centered (in my market niche and self :)) space. Because from building a solid foundation, comes viral marketing, word of mouth, and fabulous product.

    Maybe 70/30 though, hee hee

And yes, enjoy what you do, why not right!? you're doin it anyways...

And if you hate it, have someone else do it.

Well, like myself, if you need help with marketing, branding, text, clarity of self/purpose, got receipts in boxes? can help with that too and get them all ready for the accountant. Just pay them what you need to! Or just pick up a custom healing gemstone necklace to help yourself on your journey!

    {thanks for putting up with just a weee self-promo!}
