What Barbara does
I guide small business owners to transform their relationship to marketing and business through coaching and strategic marketing workshops. True to my business name, I sometimes include horses in the process (it's called horse-guided learning.)
Emphasizing practical, common sense approaches, I employ plain English, compassion (I'm a small business owner too), and focus to help you set priorities for actions that create results.
In 10 years of consulting, I worked with small and medium sized firms to promote their businesses through their web sites, graphic identities (logo, etc), mailing campaigns, and articles. The work combines strategic, creative, and message/position development, plus a whole lot of writing. I assemble creative teams from a network of graphic designers, web designers, web developers, and others as needed.
What Barbara does best
Guide my clients towards clear goals and actions to move their marketing forward.
Whether coaching, facilitating, strategizing, or creating marketing materials, I hold the big idea while implementing the details. As both a strong creative and a good project manager, I call myself a 'creative facilitator.'
I particularly enjoy finding the authentic point of view, message, and voice to tell business stories. Even better, marry images with the words around a strong concept.
What does Barbara need?

Experience
Since 2000 I have been helping professional service firms promote themselves through communications and marketing, primarily within the design and construction industry (architects, engineers, contractors, construction managers). Started working with architects in 1996 when I joined NBBJ. I started marketing in the 1980s when I was an owner of a textile design studio.
