Employment law interests me because issues in the workplace play a major role in our everyday lives. I want to help educate and fight for people who fall victim to those who create an unnecessarily miserable work experience. To learn about effective management, I earned the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certificate.

Immigration law interests me because I believe a diverse America is a strong America. Since our country was founded, immigrants have ventured into our country in search for a better life. Overall, America benefits from their economic and cultural input.

Many foreigners have shaped my ideas regarding the inherent value of cultural diversity. I worked or lived in Latin America for five summers: Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Chile. I have also traveled to several other countries in Latin America and Europe. I am fluent in Spanish, and I have dabbled in Portuguese and Russian.

These are some values I uphold to promote a service-oriented law practice:

• Free email consultation.

• Free referral, as needed, to another attorney or community resource.

• Confidentiality with clients.

• Clarity as to whether a legal question can be answered immediately or whether research or more facts are needed to provide an answer.

• Clarity as to what, if anything, a client will be billed. I prefer flat fees, especially for immigration cases, but contingency fees, hourly fees, or pro bono service may be best, depending on the circumstances.
