M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis (which is much more relevant than you might think). Also, a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.

Over the past 20 years, I've authored million-dollar grant proposals, direct mail for nonprofits, and white papers for county government. I've written newsletters, brochures, and press releases, and ghosted work for nonprofit executives, social workers, and even a judge. I've edited novels, memoirs, and short stories; taught fiction writing; published almost 20 short stories and essays of my own; and launched an award-winning literary journal (http://www.thekingsenglish.org).
