What Bob does
I'm a Certfied Flight Instructor with Galvin Flying Services at Boeing Field and an AutoCAD draftsman for Hatfield & Dawson Consulting Electrical Engineers. I'm also a multi-media artist who likes to make dioramas using Barbie dolls and assorted technical "found objects".
What Bob does best
I enjoy helping young people and "late bloomers" experience the joy of flight and the self-confidence that comes from mastering this awesome skill. Seeing the beauty and "wholeness" of the world from a small airplane, and learning to fly one, is a life-changing experience.
What does Bob need?
As much as I might like flight students, I'm also looking for socially and environmentally responsible ways I can use my flying skills. I fly for Angel Flight, which provides medical, non emergency, air transport to folks in rural areas, or who are unable to avail themselves of commercial transportation. I welcome suggestions and am open to donating scenic flights for worthy causes.
Education
I received a B.A. in philosophy from St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, CA when I was studying for the priesthood. Later, in Seattle, I received a B.A. in Art History from the University of Washington. In 1995, I took my first flying lesson and became a Certified Flight Instructor in 2002; my "M.A." in aviation!
Experience
Lots of experience working with a wide range of personalities, gleaned from my prior ministerial life and later, as a Metro Transit operator. I taught sailing at the Center For Wooden Boats in Seattle (life member). Flight Instructing involves understanding how a person learns as much as does how an airplane flies.
