  • Biznik needs list for a given city. Paging is off

When you select a city then click Needs you can fill you are given a list. For example in New York we have 198 needs as of December 12, 2008. The initial needs page is fine but when you click next or any of the other page numbers it changes to say 7116 members.

If I click refresh it is ok for a minute then reverts to a different list. Tried this in Firefox 2 and 3 as well as Internet Explorer 7 with same result. Clearing my internet cache and cookies and logging out and back in also does not change the behavior.

Anyone else having this same issue?

  • Green computing and like minded entrepreneurs

I signed up a few weeks ago but today is the first chance I have had to 'mingle'. This is the first social networking site for business where I am compelled to reach out to talk to others. I love the fact we have articles and events to educate and share. Perfect tool for everyone on Biznik to grow and build credibility! So a little more about little ol' me ...

Recycling and computers were two things that I adopted very early in life. I wrote computer software on Commodore PET, VIC20, and C64's as well as Apple IIc's starting when I was only 10 years old. It was something I liked doing, especially considering it did not cost me money to write a program vs. buying one in the store.

Growing up our family had very little money so buying a PC for Christmas was out of the question. *I did get a chemistry set once but the carpet and most of my shirts were never the same after that.* I managed to recycle my computers from the garbage taking two, sometimes 3-4 non-working computers that were tossed to the curb and built 1 working one. I built my bicycles the same way which was good considering I had to cycle many miles on garbage days week after week to collect enough parts to make one working computer.

I always liked the weeks following Christmas when people tossed out last years stuff because they got new goodies for Christmas. Other people's excess and waste became my Christmas holiday part deux :-)

My wife and I furnished our first apartment from recycled furniture. We bought our mattress but the rest we found curbside or had donated. We were so happy with what we had. Today, I see so much stuff tossed out on garbage days and only wish I had a way to collect and get some of it to people in need. We never toss out anything unless it is truly useless and cannot be recycled. We donate and share on freecycle and other donation sites.

I am now looking back at the past 25 years. Computers and technology and our quality of life has improved and continues to improve every year. Our consumption and globalization of markets and cultures has also increased.

What drives our businesses is not fundamentally different now than it was 25 years ago, or 50 years ago. The tools may have changed and technology has improved and tghe markets have grown in size but sound business practices and principles and ethics still apply. Unfortunate that some businesses do not see it that way and opt to gain profit by any means possible setting a dangerous example for current and future generations.

We may very well be losing sight of the forest for the trees but there is always hope with every individual that sees what is happening and is willing to give more and take less. I was brought up to believe in an honest days wages for an honest days work and that ione person CAN make a difference.

Cheers and looking forward to getting to meet more like minded pwople here in Biznik.
