  • Can I bring a guest? Realized the RSVP isn't set up for this... Will be good to finally make it to an event again, been underwater with projects.

  • WELL, since we only have two signups, I'm canceling tonight's Happy Hour. Let's meet up in January instead.

  • VERY happy to see this policy, Dan! This will help filter out anyone who has anything to hide, as well.

    Cheers for the community!

  • Argh, I'm going to miss it after all. OK, next month. Ya, we got a couple specific requests to move back the happy hour to make it easier for folks to come after work. Most others start early.

  • I hang out in 10.4.10 Mac OS for the moment (I have work to do, and have already played with every flavor out there over the last 25 years), but have seen a lot of my progressive friends who are techies (or semi-techie) heading into Ubuntu to experiment with on the desktop.

Few of them are business-minded about it, however. They aren't supporting a REAL business infrastructure on it. It still feels like Linux desktop is premature for anyone except a technology-based company that is willing to absorb the overhead and added hassle (file interchange, etc), or someone with religion. Perhaps that's the same thing.

Red Hat doesn't seem to have much of an impact outside the corporate server market (which was, of course, their target market), from what I can tell.

I would submit that this thread is a good example of certain folks' failure to self-moderate, so far, btw...

  • I think there's a lot of space in the market for this (if it's promoted well). Here's an annual event that I always look to for some unique gifts:

Makah Urban Christmas Bazaar (December) at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center. Give your special friends and loved ones unique arts, crafts and other gift items from the Makah Indian Reservation and other tribal communities.

  • Ha! Golden tix indeed! OMG, this is crazy enough to spin into reality. There are some profound reasons why this would be ironic. Tempting... Anyone else interested in a chocolate festival out there?
