I'm part of a team that's building a skydiving simulator in the Southcenter area, near Family Fun Center in Tukwila. It is going to be the largest indoor skydiving vertical wind tunnel on the West Coast and the first one in the Pacific Northwest.

The windtunnel creates a simulated freefall, meaning that the physical sensation that you feel is equivalent to that of being on an actual skydive. Professional skydivers use these tunnels to make efficient progress in their freefall skills... In actual dives, 45-60 seconds is all they usually get before opening their parachutes. 8 drops in one day can take many hours (and dollars) repacking chutes, landing and taking off, etc. 8 minutes in a tunnel is a much more efficient way to progress in skills for the real dives.
