Have you or someone you know recently been in an accident?
If you have car insurance you are eligible for up to 3 years or ten thousand dollars in medical bill coverage! Find out how . . .
Everything You Need To Know about Car Accidents. . .
Being in a car accident is always a frightening experience. Why make it more stressful by having to worry about any health problems you may experience afterwards? One of the most extreme symptoms that people often experience within the first two weeks after an accident is depression. The reason for this is an improper balance of hormones due to the over excretion of adrenaline. People often don't make the connection that this feeling is related to the accident.
If you or anybody is experiencing whiplash or any of the symptoms discussed due to an accident here are some guidelines to follow:
If your car is insured your medical expenses will be covered by using something called PIP. PIP stands for Personal Injury Protection and it is part of your auto insurance policy. It is designed to take care of you immediately after an accident.
Here are some very important key points you should know:
- Your insurance company, by law, cannot increase your insurance rates for using your PIP.
- PIP covers medical bills, a portion of your weekly lost wages, and for household care and cleaning.
- If you have not rejected PIP coverage in writing, then you are deemed to have it.
- PIP is no-fault, so it doesn't matter who caused the accident, you're still covered.
- There is no deductible.
- Your insurance company, by law, cannot cancel your policy for using your PIP.
- PIP coverage is for 3 years or $10,000, whichever comes first. Some policies have higher limits.
Right after an accident make sure to open up your PIP claim immediately! If you wait you may find yourself paying for expensive medical bills out of your pocket until your claim is settled.
What you will experience AFTER an accident:
Usually you may feel fine for the first few days but you will start feeling the repercussion of the accident shortly after. Once you start to feel symptoms it's likely that you're experiencing a sprain/strain kind of injury. Sprain and strain don't sound horrible, but really they are describing tears of various tissues in your body. Eventually, your body will heal with scar tissue. Scar tissue is more sensitive than the previously uninjured tissue that you had within you before. Once scar tissue sets up (this takes about 3 weeks following the trauma), it will become increasingly difficult to get you back to your pre-accident state. Receiving some chiropractic adjustments to your spine will help assure that your spine is in its best position as that scar tissue begins to form. So it's better to see a Chiropractor right away to make sure you won't suffer any long term health concerns.
