Dr. West is formally trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric plastic surgery and burn reconstruction. Doctor West is a prolific author of medical articles. He has published in such respected, peer-reviewed journals as the Annals of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Microsurgery, and Pediatric Surgery International. Dr. West has also been published in many other peer and non-peer reviewed journals. Dr. Brian West was the recipient of a top research award from the California Society of Plastic Surgeons while in surgical training for his research in the use of ultra sound in medicine. While Dr. West was serving as an assistant clinical professor of plastic surgery at the University of California @ Davis, he taught general surgery and plastic surgery to doctors in residence.

During his career, Dr. West has given numerous presentations to a wide variety of medical specialty associations, including the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Pediatric Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
