Great! I'm looking forward to meeting you! Now to go check out your website . . .
LOL - well, this week and next week are booked, but there's openings starting on the 16th of March, and you can always catch me at the SBDC! :)
I like the idea of having a brand concept for your jewelry - and I enjoyed hearing how it came about. I would agree that using Hint by Beth Hemmila gives you the best of both worlds, with the visual focus on HINT, much as it currently is on your etsy site.
Another advantage to having a separate brand name is that it mentally reminds you that the business is a separate entity - something that's very hard for artists. A business is like a child - it has come from you, and feels like part of you, but it is ultimately separate from you.
Absolutely! This is a wonderful event for artists - and it's a great way for those who help and support artists in business to connect with potential future clients! It's also how I first heard about BizNik!
Kaya - thanks for the reminder on this - I'm not going to be able to make it, but it looks like a great group! Warmly, Bridget
Mark - Yes! Thank you for initiating this - I've been wanting to sponsor some kind of a BizNik get-together as well. I agree with Kaya - I like the idea of both products and alliances as discussion topics, but would want the opportunity to meet and build community and connect to be a key part of whatever we choose to do together . . . -Bridget
Thanks for this! I, too, really like how you broke down the questions "we" need to ask ourselves as we decide how to present on-line. I keep adjusting my site - it's definitely a work in progress - to present myself and my offerings both authentically and professionally. It's a challenge to bring my identity as an artist together with the services and training I can provide to organizations. It's text I'm still working on, but these questions definitely help me focus my message.
I'm with Kaya - build relationships - particularly if what you offer is a service. Think about it the same way you think about trying to get to know someone you want to go out with - you ask them questions about themselves, get to know them, offer them something free, invite them to do low-risk things . . . go to networking events, volunteer, get face time with your target audience, offer free info on your website, give free workshops to relevant audiences to get them interested in what you have to offer . . .
