  • I'm reading a book that is so helpful...

If you have not read one of Randy Alcorn's books, I suggest you start with "If God Is Good...Faith in the Midst of Suffering and Evil". He is the Best-Selling Author of Heaven. In these times of daily horrors and bad news broadcasts, we need to be able to answer the question of If God loves us, why? This book works. Scripture based.

Please say a big "thank you" to each and every Veteran that you know on Monday...and pray for those currently serving. They so need us to remember them in our prayers. As a Navy Vet, I know of what I speak.

May God bless each and every one of you during our holiday season. To God be the Glory, through His Faithful Son, Jesus Christ!

  • VA in Vancouver

I have been working with a wonderful therapist at the VA in Vancouver for the past three years. With her help I have been able to accept my C.P.T.S.D. symptons as a part of my life that can be managed. I have learned to control my out-of-control anger, my need to punch anything in the way if suddenly scared, and to realize that there are a lot of great people out there, including vet's. She helped me to gain the honor that was stripped from me by a few, and to realize that I fought my own war during my service. One that no one wants to talk about, but is as real to my fellow victims as to me. Important point, I was not the only one who was victimized. There were many others. In sadness, I know, I was not alone. All this pain being tapped out onto my keys as I say that my therapist is moving on. The powers that be have decided to turn our Vancouver VA into a Kaiser type of program. Ten sessions to each lucky pick. It has taken me three years to gain my ability to survive and get control of my symptoms. I protest. In the name of each and every survivor of savage assault, be it due to war's hell, or the hell of rape, I protest. I will find a way to let my voice be heard on this you can be sure, and I'll keep you posted! And in a final salute to this woman who served, who came back and helped the wounded, and who is moving on to continue to help others in a venue of her choosing. Without her help, I would still be living on the border of suicide, alcohol abuse, and failure. 30 years of living, at times by a string, and 3 years of help to heal. I am in business to win. To find my way on my own again. My prayers go with her!

  • Dining with pigs?

The latest and greatest book, seems to be "never eat alone"...I'm reading it but it does not offer those of us who love Christ anything new. We have been taught to love, connect, help others, and hopefully entertain others. But I have a question...how many of us sit down and eat and drink with those who call themselves "Christians" but openly practice sin? Do we put our Christianity on our lap, and pig out? What does the bible say about networking (so to speak) with those who state faith in Christ "and" faith in Budda-Native American Spiritualism-and other beliefs? Take a clear look at what I am asking. I know that we are to love all people, that we should be all things to all people (in Apostle Paul's words), and we must minister to the lost. But are we not "Salt"? Do we eat with those who purposely choose to dilute Christ's message "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me..." John 14:6 Let us speak boldly of our faith before our Savior... Answer me if you are one of the Bold Ones!

I pray for all, saved-unsaved-and deluded...may God have mercy upon our souls!

  • Please take a look a.s.a.p.

The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!

This is a recent article posted to Biznik. I took a look at the author's website and found that I needed to respond. A response that goes against the grain of several other comments.

I invite you to take a look at my response, and then offer either the author, or me, your best advice. Remember, it's a "business theme" that we are to discuss on these sites. I was told that by the top dogs of Biznik. Therefore, I find it of interest that other "faiths" can be broadcast under the name of "writer" "coach", etc.

Our business is to be in the business of promoting God's wonderful gift to our dying and misserable world, first and foremost...a blending of faith and works...just my thought?

  • You are invited...

I would like to invite each and every one of you to make a contribution to our group, by adding an article, or question to this post. As each of you are in business, feel free to tell us what's up in your world, and how we can best support your efforts (if nothing else we can offer our prayers). Cheryl

  • Is anyone in our group a member of the V.F.W.?

My husband and I are planning to join our local V.F.W. Does anyone have a comment or two to share about their affiliation with this group?

  • What is true, noble, just, pure, lovely,of good report, of virtue and praiseworthy?

We are asked to meditate on these things...Philippians 4:8

In this day of Twitter, T.V. LinkedIn, Facebook, My Space, Biznik and more...do we really spend enough time thinking on the above mentioned subjects? Does our new mode of communication encourage us, or leave us dry, barren, wasted, and hoping for an oasis amongst the written word? I am measuring the benefit of my time on these outlets and am not sure that this is the best use of time. I feel as if the sirens call out to me daily, "join us, we have deep wells of knowledge to offer you. Turn in here." But all I see is wasted land. What think ye dear friends? Do I steer clear and head for deeper waters, or do I continue to make a stand near that rocky shore?

  • What is your most unusual "sales" story?

I recently did a sales presentation in my bathrobe and got the Agreement signed! I hear a lot of stories from sales reps, but can you top this one?

I will never miss an opportunity to make a sale if the right person is in my presence. This person happened to be training his newest recruit in my neighborhood. He is the local "beef, chicken, & fish" home delivery manager. I, in my robe, did answer the door, and with a house full of kids, barking dogs, and my assistant, make this man a deal he couldn't resist. A chance to be on my "Welcome Neighbor" website and Gift Packet program. I got a great new sponsor, and a fantastic deal on two boxes of meat.

Hope some of you will rise to the occasion to share with us your most interesting, bizarre, or unusual sales presentation!

  • How many of you have read "The Leadership Lessons of Jesus?

I purchased this book recently and have received such encouragement and faith building moments that I feel it is worth the read. Please be encouraged to let us know what you think about the book if you have read it.

Question: How many of you keep the Bible on your desk, even when working with clients? I try to practice reading the word, a bit at a time, anytime, for strength and inspiration. Is this a working tool on your desK? (No right or wrong answers here. Let's just chat about our faith in the workplace/office).

    Final note:

A Marine overheard my conversation with a gentleman who had just informed me that he was a Navy Vet. I responded that I too, was a Navy Vet. The Marine (who just had to get involved) pipped in with "I guess you two were in the same boat!" Funny, but as I learned the hard way, you never call a ship "a boat"...

  • Plowing in our business ventures!

A thought for those of us who serve a Living God...

For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. 1Corinthians 9:10

Let those of us who "plow", plow in hope, and those of us who thresh, partake of hope as well...

Feel free to post your own comments. Relating scripture to our work world!

  • We had a great time at our first event!

As with all things, there were trials, problems, and all things to prevent our get together, but guess what? We made it! Despite all the hail, and road blocks the people who needed to be there showed! It was an awesome networking event as my team and I met the most amazing networker and referral biznik contact; Lisa Hanna! She wowed us and informed us, and she even told us how to get that stubborn stain out of a white sweater, all while keeping to subjects such as networking, the economy, and more! A dazzling woman with a large capacity of knowledge, mixed with a fast paced energy and a "what can I do for you" personality. Join our next meeting and bring your talent! Cheryl

Read Proverbs 31 for a great list of small business opportunities. It's as relevant today as it was when this story was written.

Do you have a favorite business-woman of the bible, story? If so, share...

  • I Want You! To join and/or support our U.S. Veterans Group

It may take me a bit of time, but you can be assured that I will create this group with help from others, to be the encouragement and support that our fellow vet's need. Our troops are returning to high rates of unemployment and an air of desperation and unavailability, to meet their new needs. There are a thousand and one books out there on starting a new business, but we all know that it takes more then picking up a book. There are a lot of coaches out here in Biznik land, and I am sure some of you have run your own small businesses and could be of real benefit to folks trying to figure out if they have the "right idea" and if so, how to get the ball rolling. So join us and let these "start-ups" know we can help! Know a vet just coming back? Please give them a big "thanks". I won't forget 911, and neither did they! Cheryl
