When Mr. Conk was attending the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) in the early1980s, Chip put together a low-budget calendar. It turned out, Chip's calendar idea was a success because Conk's fellow UC Santa Barbara students purchased the calendar. At that moment, Chip decided to go into business outside of the UC Santa Barbara campus. Chip founded Day Dream Publishing and headed up a team that consisted of his sister, Joellyn, and his brother, Chris. At first, the trio, led by Chip, created non-specific type calendars. Then, as the company grew, the Conks were able to use images from the likes of animated characters from both Disney and Warner Bros., sports figures from the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and the National Football League, popular television shows, musical heavyweights and supermodels, including Cindy Crawford.
