  • "Honey!--it's your mother on the phone."

If you have now or have ever had a mom, you may be interested in participating in some research I'm doing for a book.

It's about the relationships between women and their mothers over the phone. I'm looking for the common type of conversation you have with her. You don't have to take much time to participate. Just write it in a simple form: Me: Hi mom. I don't have too long to talk, but let's do a quick catch-up. Mom: Well, you know Clive up the street, he's got an ear infection. Me: I don't know Clive, but I hope he feels better soon. Mom: Clive's wife is the one with the terrible benign brain tumor....(you get the drift.)

I'd love to have permission to use your snippet as part of my project. Funny, poignant, crazy or two monologues passing, I'd love to read it. Answer only if I have your permission to use. Thanks!

  • I NEED my Network!!

Dear Fellow Bizniks- I'm a Sr. Copywriter/Idea Generator and I'm new in town. I’ve made a hit list of companies I’d like to check out. It’s a struggle, because so many online inquiries and applications go straight to the unseen bin. I have a small but cherished number of friends to introduce me to insiders (the only way to get attention!) So I’m turning to my network of Biznik friends to find someone who knows anyone in any of the companies listed below:

-msnbc -Entellium -Noetix Corp -All star directories -Pb Elemental -Google -Allyis -Babylegs -Cascadia -Adaptis -F5 -Zillow -Pyramid Communications -SKB Architects -DDB Seattle

Can you help? I’m a very good, seasoned writer, looking for a humane work culture. (resume at www.chrisradant.com) THANKS!!

  • PBS program about freelancing and medical insurance

This month, the PBS news magazine NOW devoted a whole episode to independent workers and Freelancers Union. Now it's available online, and you should definitely to watch it.

The program features an interview with Freelancers Union Executive Director Sara Horowitz and includes a round table discussion between Freelancers Union members and the New York State Department of Labor Commissioner Patricia Smith.

Here's where to watch the show: http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/407/index.html
