Chris Pizzo's educational background is widely varied. As a participant of Cornell University's ROTC program, Chris Pizzo aspired to a lifelong military career. Despite being diagnosed with atypical seminoma cancer, which effectively ended his burgeoning career, Chris Pizzo rose above the tragedy and turned his life around. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and Advertising, Chris Pizzo began working for the New Jersey Public School System, a job he found extremely rewarding. Chris Pizzo also trained in many different disciplines of martial arts and soon won many medals and trophies for his skills. A violent road rage confrontation, however, changed Chris Pizzo's life and perspective on martial arts forever. Chris Pizzo discovered from the incident that all his training in traditional martial arts did little good in a situation that was uncontrolled and unpredictable, so he began a search to find the most effective method of self-defense in the world. The technique Chris Pizzo stumbled on was Close Combat Training (CCT), a highly efficient system of fighting that relies on gross motor movements rather than the complex moves favored by conventional martial arts. Dedicated to promoting CCT's potential to be the number one method of self-defense, Chris Pizzo offers both classes and instructional DVDs through his company. A board member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists, Chris Pizzo was named the "World Leader in Self Defense" by the same group in 2007.
