What Clarice does
I help my clients express their wisdom, skills and expertise in website content, articles, ebooks, nonfiction books and more.
I share a variety of fun and creative tools with them that help to dissolve writer's block; teach them how to brainstorm and organize their ideas; and guide them through the writing and revising process.
Along the way, I break the writing steps down into manageable chunks, give them careful feedback, and help them set and achieve their goals. I also copyedit and proofread the final product.
What Clarice does best
My best gift is the ability to take a complicated (or poorly-worded) piece of writing and turn it into a clear, succinct, powerful communication that successfully tells a story. I am also a nurturing mentor, coach and teacher.
What does Clarice need?
I would especially like to meet Bizniks who are coaches, educators, trainers and holistic healers. I would love to help you get the word "out there" about the numerous ways in which you make a difference in people's lives.
For example, I can help you write website content, newsletters, press releases, professional articles, nonfiction books, and more.
Education
I have an MA in Writing with an emphasis on Publishing from Portland State University. I also have an MA in Linguistics and a BA in German and French from the University of Utah.
Experience
My career experience has ranged from academia to the corporate and nonprofit worlds. What has united all of my jobs is a love of writing, teaching and mentoring.
As a young adult, I taught English as a second language for eight years in Mexico City, Mexico; Kabul, Afghanistan (Peace Corps Volunteer); and Portland, Oregon. Then I joined the corporate world, where I wrote and edited business communications and marketing materials for mostly high-tech software companies.
In 2002, I returned to school to earn an MA in Writing/Publishing. While doing so, I also taught undergraduate writing composition courses and consulted one-on-one with students in the Writing Center.
I have maintained my own writing coach/editing business since 2004.
I also serve on the board of the International Alliance for Learning, which is the premier organization for educators and corporate trainers who apply the whole-brain, heart-based principles of Accelerated Learning to their work.
