The Expansion

It seems to me that we are living in an extraordinary time. I imagine that over the centuries, that statement has been shared many a time. However, I see this to be true all around me, every day. There is growing evidence, of new thinking, of spirituality and science coming together, of quantum physics tenets being a household conversation. Perhaps we really are living in a truly remarkable window of time.

While old models often die hard, transformational changes are occurring in the worlds of health care with the emergence of a greater understanding and acceptance of healing via subtler energy systems. The pace of ramping up new innovative ways of producing energy via biomass, from water and alternative fuels, and large investments in solar energy by large financial point to the fact the "times, they are a changing."

This past week we saw a successful landing on Mars. The technological component is amazing enough but how is that accomplishment having ripples in other arenas? Last week the the Pope's chief astronomer said that life on Mars cannot be ruled out. Father Gabriel Funes, said intelligent beings created by God could exist in outer space. He is the director of the Vatican Observatory near Rome, and a respected scientist who collaborates with universities around the world. The article continues with this folly, "Just as there are multiple forms of life on earth, so there could exist intelligent beings in outer space created by God."

I believe that we are living in a time that has infinite potentiality. This current time seems to be supercharged with possibility.

You don't have to change your whole life today, but I invite you to put yourself in places that stretch you, that expand. Just this weekend I put myself to that test to do just that. In just one weekend I danced to a wonderful Miramba band from Zimbabwe, experienced a journey of transformative breathwork and more. How incredibly rich and diverse is our Whidbey Island! For five years I have been enticed by hearing about the Seattle Folklife Festival but had not acted on it. How easy it would have been, given ferry lines and Memorial Day weekend traffic, to miss another year. I am happy to say that I did not miss the opportunity and it was everything I had hoped and more, with dancing and music as diverse as the world is. I was given the gift of a kayaking lesson on Goss Lake by a friend; something I had wanted to do for years, and I took it, and was invigorated by it. I use these examples only to show how rich a life can be in one weekend when your life is expanding.

If you accept that the world is integrating and expanding on a universal scale, how could that apply to you? How is your life getting larger? What risks are you taking? How are you expanding your mind and skills and exposing yourself to personal and spiritual explorations that inspire and enliven you? I wish for you that June is a month that you try at least one thing that you know little to nothing about and take the risk that it might just make your life a more profound one. What have you got to lose?

May You be Well,
"Dr. Craig"
