What Dan does

Group and individual counseling. Specialties include: anxiety, depression, men's issues, gay/lesbian/bisexual, coming out, relationships, intimacy.

What Dan does best

Relationships. I love building new relationships, maintaining old ones, both personal and professional. It is hard, but worth it almost all the time.

In my time with clients, I form important connections with them. I believe that all of us are in need of and desire connection. Some people do not experience connection the way they would desire. This connection is important for trust and building the relationship so that change can happen. Some have been hurt over and over again and refuse to get close to someone again, platonic or otherwise. I believe this is destructive and contrary to that for which we were made. We are relational creatures.

What does Dan need?

**Men who come from a religiously, culturally conservative background and are wondering about coming out, in the process of coming out, afraid of coming out, or maybe don't want to call themselvles gay. I do groups for men who are in this place. It's quite isolating. Seeing the face of another or hearing their story is important.

**People (straight, gay, bi) who are dissatisfied in their current relationship. It's a guarantee that committed relationships are difficult and messy. Actually, all relationships that are worth anything take a lot of work.

**Anyone who is in a transition in life. Maybe just out of a relationship, changing jobs, newly retired or considering it. It's easy to lose it in times of transition. Losing it is not a bad thing, but most of us don't like it, including me.

**Someone who has recently experienced loss of someone close. The experience of grief and loss is one of the hardest things in life. It's also quite lonely.
