  • How to encourage a blogger to cover your story

Today, I received an interesting e-newsletter by MarketingProfs devoted to the topic: how can you encourage a blogger to cover your story.

During the press release workshop, I spoke with the participating Bizniks about the importance of adding relevant blogs to your media list. However, just sending out a press release to a blogger usually does not work. We discussed that you need to build up a relationship with a blogger.

    The marketingProfs newsletter writes:

"Read the blog. Almost nothing annoys bloggers (or, indeed, anyone in the media) more than a pitch that makes it clear you barely read what they write. Get familiar with the blogger’s work and tailor your pitch accordingly. An extra tip: Find a relevant angle with the background info and particular interests the bloggers provide on their “About” page."

Very true and, therefore, I wanted to share this information with you all.

By the way, next week I'll talk about how to make an appropriate media list (along with other topics) at the following press release workshop.
