Building a Virtual Company with Unlimited Potential
Doing more with less has a new meaning today. Brick & mortar companies are fast becoming a memory. With help you too can build a company in the clouds with hundreds of employees working remotely as a routine.
We dipped our toes in the virtual waters in 2000 and finally dove head first in 2009. It sounds like a long time but sometime old habits die hard. We took the leap after years of designing and implementing full-blown virtual corporations for our clients. With the green revolution upon us and a struggling economy we decided it was time to lead instead of follow.
Just as we have always counseled our clients we put our house in order first so we could ensure a successful transition from our brick & mortar trappings and into our virtual world. We decided on a set of standards for how we would operate. These standards make it easy for us to troubleshoot and repair problems in the many locations our employees use today.
During our next task we set out to ensure our data integrity and our company longevity would not suffer as a result of this new virtual work world we were creating. We set about establishing a set of policies which are designed to protect our company in a variety of ways.
With the basics in place a great history of excellent designs for our customers we began implementing our virtual world. In a few short weeks our world began running and it is in full stride today.
From the perspective of our employees we are now completely virtual and in the clouds. Each employee has a cell phone, laptop, firewall and VOIP phone at home (company supplied by choice to meet standards) and high speed internet. Today it does not matter where an employee chooses to live or play they are easily a part of our secure virtual world.
From a corporate perspective our choices are to use our own servers for email, data, collaboration, faxing, calendaring, CRM/service ticket tracking, billing and other applications as opposed to cloud/hosted computers (we are after all a network and technical support services company).
However, for many of our clients we recommend hosted cloud solutions as they are less expensive, easily maintained and receive routine backups with many other benefits as well. Examples of hosted solutions are:
- Remote Server Care w/ 24 x 7 Help Desk
- Desktop and Firewall managed services.
- Total Desktop Care Program w/ 24 x 7 Help Desk
- Desktop Care Program
- Check Point Managed Firewall Security
- Online Offsite Secure Data Backup
- Hosted Spam Filtering
- Hosted Microsoft Exchange 2007.
- SharePoint 3.0.
- Hosted Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007
- Hosted Microsoft Business Productivity Suite
- Hosted BlackBerry and wireless email
- Hosted Archiving and compliance tools.
- Hosted Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
- Hosted Domain Name Purchase & Hosting
- eCommerce Hosting with payQuake
- Secure Certificate by GeoTrust
- Hosted Web Content Filtering
- Hosted Content management
As you can see there are a lot of hosted cloud solutions from whci to choose. Your challenge is to find a trusted resource to help you choose the right solutions which work best for you and you business.
Today, we are using IM and the intercom on our VOIP phone system to talk about our new quality of life and the things we missed and thus the new water cooler is born by “going virtual”. Come join us in the cloud.
As always….Go Forth and Do Good Things.
