Great piece, Kelly - nice mix of the professional and personal. I think people tend to focus most of their energies on the professional, which leads to "same old" bio message. Questions 6-16 really begin to move them away from that trap.

Kelly - this is a really wonderful article. I don't have any success stories to relate, but your article instantly inspired me to become more active on LinkedIn, both in the hopes of connecting with others, and also to help others connect. Thanks much!

Richard - great article. You're spot on. Where would any of us be without a little risk. Thanks for writing and for sharing.

Thanks for writing this article, Ellen - it's good to read things like this especially now, as so many highly creative and talented people are finding themselves with the opportunity to create wonderful businesses, so long as they believe in their own unique gifts.

Thanks Becky - "Landscape as art piece" is a fantastic line, whether it's about a business or just floating out there in a poem - the fact that it IS about your business, and the way you approach your business, is really wonderful and fascinating. Reading that alone tells me that you are truly applying your passion in your profession!
Thanks Page - wonderful haiku. Extremely affirmative, especially when you break the lines up, so that "stop fussing, start creating" and "live with intention" become direct, positive action statements. Your clients are in great hands!
WOW: I'm completely overwhelmed, overjoyed and psyched by these responses, the awesomeness of these haikus, and the fact that people have found the article and the process useful and helpful. Thank you all for commenting! May the words continue to flow.

Nicely done, Kisane! Double points for the rhyme. Thanks for reading from Perth - I've always wanted to visit. My wife went to AU for a six-month stint back in the late-90s, and we talk flying back one of these days.

Awesome that you stress the point that advertising IS NOT marketing! A lot of small business owners overlook the importance of building strong connections through networking, business groups, volunteer opportunities . . . essentially being out there, all of which helps them introduce themselves in a very "soft marketing" way. As you point out, the advertising component is only one part of the larger plan. Wonderful article through and through.
Akira,
This is an extremely insightful, honest, and very timely article, especially in the face of change, and the new ways by which people are communicating, getting their message out, and embodying their brands. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Christian - appreciate you including the admin note. Nice haiku.
Thanks Akira - I appreciate you reading. Great haiku.

Great haiku, Anne! Thanks for reading and for posting.

Thanks Mark - I like your tagline.
Dave
Thanks Sonia - glad to learn of you and your business as well. Not too far away either. Wonderful haiku.

Nice catch on the "where's your haiku?" -
Creative writing
for businesses and people
whose message matters
NOTE: you can also use some simple html at the end of your lines to create a break: "<"followed by "br/" followed by ">"
I would add that it's important to find the core story that projects the message of the business, then communicates that message in a consistent fashion appropriate to chosen media and means of delivery. Start with the mission and vision then go from there.
