  • Blogging works!!

When I joined Biznik in late November and there were less than 90 members, it wasn't because I was looking for a networking group whose members were almost exclusively in the 30-miles-from-my office range.

I did join though because Dan suggested that blogging was the best way to leverage any kind of web presence into more business via it's search engine effects. He also essentially said that he would help me get from A-Z on how to set up and do a blog.

Well, I'm here to report: he did his part, and I can now say that I have gotten new business directly off the blog and it's effect on search engines. (type it "Everett, Chiropractor" on google and see who comes up 4 out of the first 5 hits!) I just had to share:-)

As I had hoped we now also have quite a respectible number of Biznik members north of the county line and will soon be having meetings somewhere north of Seattle - and today I noticed one of the new members is from Bellingham. It just keeps getting better.

  • Seminar: "Miracle Cure" Are you Interested?

I posted a quick offering for a seminar covering some of the benefits of playing with a gym ball in Elke's "What I learned..." post (so go there for a bunch of details).

There has been some interest expressed for a weekend day before noon. Email me (DDilday239@aol.com) and let me know if you would be interested in spending a couple hours playing on a ball. Then I will work on exactly where (in Seattle) we'll do it. (And if you have interest and a venue that's even better.

  • Tax advice

Here is a source for excellent tax advice.

Sandy Botkins Tax Reduction Institute www.taxreductioninstitute.com (800) 874-0829

We've read the book, listened to tapes and subscribed to the phone consultation service: they are all great. The seminars are probably equally good.

  • Search feature?

Dan - a person I was talking with this morning about joining Biznik (she runs the local World's Gym) immediately asked me about a tax accountant. I do know quite few of the members but can't think of an accountant off hand. So now that I'm at the site I seem to have 3 choices: post an inquiry here; scroll through profiles; or post a blog.

Except for the blogging choice the others are reasonable and I would be ok doing it that way. Given all the really cool things this site and Biznik can and is doing, I hate to be the one asking about you doing more. But, would a search feature for products and services be a workable future functional addition?

And, oh by the way, does anyone know a decent tax accountant anywhere near Everett? (Mine is in Omak - which is another long story - so I won't be offering her as an option.)

  • Blog - I changed mine, why?

Dan - this is to let you know that I have ditched the blog I had and have started one with wordpress.

    The address is: doctordilday.wordpress.com/

I post this here so I can also share with the group my very short experience and reason for (1) leaving what I had, and (2) choosing wordpress. For what it's worth.

First, what I had was cheezy to say the least. In the end I couldn't even get logged in and their "send us your email, we'll get back to you within 15 minutes with a new password" did not work at all.

You had recommened I not get attached to that blog when you first saw it. By the time I got into that mess with that blog I had looked at the Bizniker's blogs. The whole business of having to login and establish an account with some web company just to leave a comment on a blog was a no goer - as my tai chi teacher likes to say. Wordpress is straightforward, simple, doesn't require a login to leave comments, and is intuitive enough for this "dummy." I haven't got it all figured out and will probably have to backtrack a bit and re-do a couple things, but I am, so far, happy with it.

    For what it's worth.
