  • Sorry to have to un-RSVP with such late notice. Entire family came down with colds this weekend. Look forward to another event with the Power Chicks in the future! :) (achoo!)

  • Thanks so much, Lillian!

I know that there are many "experts" out there that advocate jumping in with both feet like that, but you're right! It's overwhelming. To take that swimming pool analogy a little further, an entrepreneur trying to jump into the 8 social networking sites all at once, is like being taught 8 different strokes in your first swimming lesson. Start with what makes sense to you, work toward the others.

Best of luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

  • Can't wait for another Motivating Monday!

  • Thank you so much, Len, for sharing your story. My friend in Belgium has a similar story to share, and is quite happy with her health care. While some may complain that Canadians must wait to see doctors and get procedures, most Americans with insurance can wait up to 6 months to see specialists like dematologists, and such. My Mom recently made an appointment to see an orthopedist, referred by her doctor, and it will be 2 months before she gets in.

As an entrepreneur, I must purchase health care for myself, but it is in no way comparable to the quality I had when I worked for a larger company (and our costs have skyrocketed!)

My friends outside the States cannot fathom a "superpower" that requires its citizens to hold bake sales and car washes to pay for life saving treatments for their children and other loved ones. Wish the insurance industry would release their stranglehold on our elected officials so we could care for the 50 million working folks who cannot afford health insurance, or are unable to get it because of pre-existing conditions.

Heidi, looking forward to seeing you next time!

Robert, thanks for posting the pic of the event. You can hardly see the blueberry splatters on that nice sign.

  • Oh my! I'm sorry I have to un-RSVP! A regular mastermind group that I attend had its weeks shifted and conflicts now with. I will absolutely watch for a future date, as I love the concept of the event.

  • Excellent points! I think many people are intrigued with the idea of twitter, but many walk away eventually because it's a hard nut to crack.

I've been on twitter for a quite a while. I've enjoyed it, for the most part. I think that 95% of people are not getting value out of it, because of the ambiguous nature of the application. Few people seem quite sure of how to utilize it.

I actually enjoyed twitter in the early days, when it was more about relationships and connecting. I try to connect with the twitterers that tweet real things, not just links to articles, retweeting compliments that other people have paid to them (dislike that a bunch), and the endless private jokes.

I pop in to twitter a few times a day to see if there is anything I'd like to respond to, perhaps tweet something relevant, and just see where everyone is. I have more targeted social media that enjoy much more, and get much more value for the time spent. I find that Biznik, Facebook, and others are more suitable to my personality and goals. I've researched all about using twitter to the best advantage and being a good twitterer, but I just prefer something with less volume.

  • Hi! My name is Diana Hathaway Timmons. I was so thrilled to discover Power Chicks (actually, Power Chicks discovered me first!) I so look forward to being part of the group. I've enjoyed reading about my fellow Chicks and the amazing things they're doing.

I'm an author, real estate marketing writer/consultant, and interior designer. I wrote a book "Sell Your Home Without Losing Your Zen", and am working on the next one -- this time for buyers! I'm passionate about all things "home!" You know those HGTV shows with the real estate experts that walk through a home and tell the sellers what needs to be done? Well that's what I do (but I'm waaaay nicer!)

it's a wonderful little cafe with a great outdoor seating area, and a variety of coffee drinks and food. I'm looking forward to our event here!

  • Hi Dale!

Looking forward to meeting you! The RSVPs for this usually trickle in closer to Monday.

Note: I've just been informed that Cafe Trios ceased operations this week. I am securing a new Bainbridge Island location for the meeting, and will post the new venue info on Saturday.

  • Thanks Zeke! You've made a perfectly clear case against Black Hat SEO, and done an excellent job detailing each offense. As someone who has many syndicated articles out there, I've seen my share of Black Hatters ripping my articles uncredited for link and SEO-heavy non-sites.

I SO appreciate clear and concise writing like this article. Thanks so much.
