What Diana does
I'm a licensed massage therapist and I provide healing bodywork in a variety of venues. Each massage is tailored to the clients individual needs and I incorporate elements from Deep Tissue, Sports, Thai, Shiatsu and Lomi-Lomi massage styles.
Additionally, I work with various on-site and sports massage teams. One such team is Century Sports Massage. Through them I provide sports massage to cyclists and other athletes all across the state. Another team I work with is The Massage Team. Through TMT I provide a variety of both table and chair massage at area events, both indoor and out.
In addition to these wonderful companies I work with, I provide in home massage through my personal business, Elemental Equilibrium. For details and pricing, please see my new client promotion.
What Diana does best
Multi-task! The healing profession requires flexibility, desire and a love of education. I'm passionately motivated about the massage work I provide. I strive to educate my clients and the general public about the benefits, and the wide spectrum of massage (to steal a phrase from Alison Butler of The Massage Team).
Where did I learn my multi-tasking skills? Years of mudane office jobs! While the office is not the place for me, I have a wealth of knowledge as a result. Over the years I have worked with several health industry companies, beginning in an occupational therapy clinic in high school. I've also worked at the RI blood center where I learned about patient record keeping and the structure of a large non-profit. I also have several months of experience with Americorps which enhanced my knowledge of the non-profit sector. Currently, in addition to the massage work I offer, I assist in case entry and record retention through a local health company.
These jobs can be dull, but are always educational - they've given me a well rounded perspective on healthcare in the US.
What does Diana need?
Trades! Receiving regular massage, reiki, acupuncture, etc keeps me inspired and healthy. I love to trade and learn new things from my peers. Community is very important to me as a therapist - I believe we need to work together to support the profession and keep each other healthy through trades, etc. If you're interested, let me know!
Education
Community College of RI: AAS/CMT. Through CCRI's therapeutic massage program, I trained for over 1100 hours. I had very thorough, in-depth science classes, including anatomy with full disection, physiology, kinesiology with gross anatomy lab and pathophysiology. I had a full semester of swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu and sports massage, as well as several months of supervised internships.
Since graduation I have sought continuing education with great success. At last years AMTA-WA convention, I explored Chi Nei Tsang and learned about the specific needs for working with clients during chemotherapy.
One of my greatest joys since returning to the NW has been studying Thai Massage with Eric Spivack. He is a gifted teacher and practitioner, offering Thai massage and acupunture. I've completed Level 1 and 2 and look forward to Level 3 in May.

RI experience:
All That Matters - a yoga/holistic health center. In addition to yoga classes, massage, reflexology, acupuncture and esthetic services, ATM holds large classes for the public on every aspect of health and wellness from gong meditation to eating for health.
Newport Acupuncture - an acupuncture and massage clinic, Newport Acupuncture is a well run clinic where I provided massage for all types of clients. My largest clientelle participated in a neck pain and ROM study I performed, so I was able to work with individuals with whiplash injury, a history of idiopathic neck pain and/or dysfunction and other injuries that led to their need for neck rehabilitation.
Neurohealth Rehab Clinic - this physical therapy office was not normally used for massage therapy. During my time there, I provided massage for PT patients at all stages of recovery as well as the therapists and staff of Neurohealth. All of this was done on a PT plith in a loud PT office. It was a rewarding challenge!
Also in RI, I worked at a variety of sporting events and health fairs providing both table and chair massage.
