What Diane does
I am a Celebrant, one who writes individualized Life Tributes and organizes and officiates non or trans-denominational Memorial/Funeral services. Life Celebrations can take form as an ash-scattering ceremony, or a memorial service, or graveside service, or an addition to a more traditional religious funeral service. I meet with the family to hear their stories about the person who died, and discuss the ambiance they would like, including assisting them with choice of music, poetry and/or readings and, if a memorial service, I will offer creative suggestions regarding where the service could be held. Often the most personal services are held at locations that are not traditional, but perfect for reflecting a person's life! I will work closely with the Funeral Home and any other professionals that may be involved. My goal is to be of the highest service to the bereaved family by facilitating a service that is life-affirming, deeply personal and healing, authentically reflecting their loved one's life. Our animal companions are valued and dear family members. I love to offer my services to those wishing to honor their pet by creating a ceremony to celebrate their friend's life. It may be a burial service, a memorial gathering, or a service before euthanasia.
What Diane does best
I offer a background in bereavement support and spiritual companioning, the process of accompanying people as they explore their relationship with the spiritual aspect of their human experience. My special focus became working with those moving through life transitions and losses. I have a passion to serve in this capacity as a Celebrant, offering my compassionate heart, organizational skills, and personal experience.
What does Diane need?
I am very interested in green burials, and I would really love to participate in creating ceremonies for those families choosing this natural way for their loved ones. So if you have any connections to people or groups involved in bringing attention to this type of burial, please think of me! Secondly, I love to officiate pet burials/memorials. Again, think of me if a beloved animal companion dies and you would like to commemorate them with a ceremony.
Education
Certified Funeral Celebrant from Insight Institute - 2007, B.A in Spiritual Studies from Agape Institute - 2005, Licensed Spiritual Practitioner from Agape International Spiritual Center - 1998.
Experience
My experience in offering grief support and now my work as a Celebrant emerged out of my own experiences living with and moving through the long walk of grieving the deaths of my ex-husband (the father of my children), very recently the deaths of both my parents, many close friends and beloved animal companions. As my heart has been broken open, I am able to hold a reverent, respectful space for those who have lost a beloved friend, family member, cherished pet.
