  • Well, two seasons isn't even enough time for clothes. I haven't worn my big puffy winter coat since last winter. If i fix someone's pinball, i hope i don't hear from them for at least a year. Even if i never got a referral from them, if they called me two years later would i say, "sorry, i've deleted you as a business contact for inactivity"? My friend Tim i can Hope i get to see every year. I give "referrals" all the time about business & people i think stink.

Sorry, peeps aren't clothes. & you really aren't talking about people so much, it's about this silly web interface. One of the things i've come to realize more clearly because of the computer is that the perceived value of something is based on my investment. Part of what is so attractive to people, i think, about web interfaces is that the value is so clearly perceived. I can treat Biznik as a computer game, say, "collect the friends." & i can be anyone i want, Mr. Booger or Mr. oh so serious. I can add & delete friends. Like i can't do in real life. Oh i haven't heard from Leila in awhile, or heck i just wanna stop being her friend, BOOP! Delete! Yeah right. Sometimes we're kinda stuck with our friends. And here in lalaland, woo-hoo! If someone takes having a few kilobits of data deleted from some server running some computer program personally, well, their problem. Really taking anything personally is pretty much just a quick road to feeling crummy. Too many words. Gotta go mess about with the kitchen light now.
