  • Event Planners or Project Managers? For Veterans...

Hi - I am working with a group of people who are trying to plan a conference/retreat for next February.

It will be an event about healing for our Iraq War veterans and people who care about them, and for healing professionals who work or want to work with them. I think that its effects will go far beyond what could be summed up in a short sentence, but they need help and I think it is important work that they are doing.

Any event planners or project coordinators out there have an hour, or a few, to donate to this cause? There are people there who would hapily receive any guidance and run with it. There might be some money available, but probably not much. There will be some opportunities for connections with great people and into great communities, however.

I would love to hear from anyone with an interest, even tangentially - they could use some Web help, as well.

    Thanks in advance...

  • Anyone out there speak Dutch?

I just received a proof copy of my Dutch-language multimedia program. I need help reviewing it to get it back to the developer ASAP. It needs to be proofed for content, sequence, and timing.

I am trying to get this done in the next 3 days or so - if I could get it back to him by Wednesday, that would be ideal.

It would require about 1-2 hours of time, and I could trade for acupuncture or bodywork sessions. I have time Monday during the day, Tuesday day or evening, and Wednesday day or evening.

    Anybody interested?

  • Need help with training programs...maybe web-based?

Hi – I am looking for some feedback and maybe some partners in designing some marketable training programs. The content is already developed, and within weeks I will have my first finished products – a multimedia training program, in both English and Dutch, about preventing carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis in the workplace. It is a proven success at reducing these kinds of injuries. I would like to develop several other modules into marketable training programs as well.

These are programs with a demonstrable track record, but the whole story is long...

I need some help to figure out some next steps. I will try to make this brief.

Over the last 5 or 6 years, with a business partner, I developed a series of training programs about body mechanics in the workplace, and had some good successes going into companies and teaching classes. These are very innovative programs, addressing principles of body mechanics and their application to various types of work environments, and are divided into modules according to how injuries are classified by L&I and OSHA.

My partner and I were asked to produce a multimedia training program to address a specific need (preventing hand and wrist injuries in a manufacturing environment). We did so, and it was such a success that we were then hired to reproduce it in Dutch, for our client’s manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands. That program should be finished in a couple of weeks. I will retain the rights and be in a position to capitalize on it if I can figure out how.

My business partner recently left the business, leaving the intellectual property of the company to me. It was mine to begin with – this is one of my areas of expertise, so the content of the programs is mine. She was the one with contacts in the market we were working, and our sales mostly came from her prior contacts.

So I am left with a series of very valuable, highly developed products, but don’t know where to go from here to market it or capitalize on it. It could be e-books, multimedia, web-based training programs, train-the trainer programs, DVDs, etc – I’m not sure what is best, or technologically what is possible. I do not know about producing these kinds of training programs yet. I think that trying to start a business where I actually go teach the material is neither that interesting to me nor the most efficient way to go with it. As our client demonstrated to us, it could be an international series of products – it addresses needs that people have everywhere.

Anyone have any ideas about who to talk to or where to go with something like this? I would appreciate any support available.

    Thanks.
