A shout out for real estate/rental help!

Hello fellow Biznikers who are in the know about rentals and real estate: I need some help!

My sweetheart is moving back to Seattle from Chicago, and I would love to find him a cozy place. I want to find something independantly (sp?) owned, not a property management situation. In part because he prefers that, also because he has filed a complaint against a former landlord for innapropriate charges. He is a great guy, employed, has money and great references, but it has been dificult for me to help him find a place. Any helpful hints on better places to look then craigslist, etc, or a secret handshake I should learn? Thanks in advance for your help. :) els

Oh No, COLD CALLING!!

We are all trying to find a way NOT to cold call (hence, BIZNIK). If you absolutely must, how do you do it? How do you make that process easy and kind? Is it possible? I am trying to figure out a way to introduce myself to small business owners and project managers within the IT industry, and I am facing some cold call situations. Anyone else have to face that? Help! :)
