What Emily does
I help small businesses and solo practitioners become more efficient, more effective, and more competitve by working with them to overcome organizing roadblocks.
My services include assistance with time management, paper and records management, decluttering, process efficiency, and space optimization.
What Emily does best
Working with business owners who are well on their way to success but who struggle with organizing challenges is my passion. I'm especially good at getting to the root of organizing issues and creating customized, realistic plans for overcoming them.
What does Emily need?
I'm looking for small business owners and solo practitioners who have solid visions of great success but who know they need to overcome organizing obstacles in order to get where they want to be.
I'm also seeking people who are starting new businesses and want to be sure they're set up for greatness from the beginning.
Education
I hold a BA in Film from Vassar College.
Continuing education is a particular passion, and I strive to learn more all the time about business, organizing theories and techniques, and a variety of other topics.
Experience
I started my company, The Organized Life, in 2004 after seven years with the WebTV/MSN TV division of Microsoft. I was drawn to the field of Professional Organizing because of my strong organizational skills, my desire to work closely with others to impact change in their lives, and my belief in the benefits of being organized.
In April 2007, I became an inaugural Certified Professional Organizer (CPO)(r), one of fewer than 250 professionals to earn the designation.
I am the co-creator of the Essentials series of classes and resources for Professional Organizers (www.essentialsclasses.com).
My book, Knack Organizing Your Home, was released by Globe Pequot Press in November of 2008. I write and speak frequently on organizing topics throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
