  • Great article Debbie. I did an analysis last week of my habits and time investments involving social media. It's an incredibly useful exercise.

Stepping back and looking at which ones were effective in helping me reach my business goals, and which ones were not, was very revealing. Not all social media sites were delivering equal value for time invested.

  • Thanks for this article, Stephen. Something I've found helpful, along with meditation, is positive action. Taking charge of what I am able to control in my life and environment helps me switch from negative, or fear-based, to positive very quickly.

  • Lori and Howard,

Thank you for an excellent experience, today! The whole drive home was one big flood of ideas on how to describe my business from the heart.

This looks like a great event! Figuring out how to communicate what I do has been an interesting experience, to say the least.

  • Very interesting. Luckily, there's more than one way to skin a cat. A little creativity may be all most business owners need to avoid unnecessary debt. Joint venturing with a business that already has what you need is a great option to consider. Opportunity out of crisis.

  • Teleconference calls are great and I attend them regularly. I also agree with earlier comments. Having an mp3 available after the call is really nice.

Recently, I've found the technology very helpful in putting together a Mastermind. Spanning Seattle-London-Australia is actually feasible. Once you get the timezone thing figured out. And free or nearly so with various Voip services like Skype or Gizmo5.

Having an agenda and good moderation is important. Especially, when callers are participating instead of just listening.

  • Thanks for the great article, Amy.

Another possible benefit is being able to negotiate to pay for results, instead of by the hour or by a fixed bid. The freelancer, being both the talent and the principle, has plenty of flexibility in negotiating contract terms. Find someone happy to work on contingency.

As a side benefit, because results will be measurable, they will be much easier to change and improve over time.

  • LinkedIn has been very useful for me because of it's private group function. Plus, the number of people using it allows me to get reconnected with lost contacts pretty easily.

It does appear to have some limitations, depending on what you need. A group I belong to is moving towards a mode of business networking where LinkedIn may be a bit clumsy.

The LinkedIn group could be used, though, for more general contact and feeding a private Biznik group.

I'm looking forward to upcoming Biznik releases. Sounds like there are more good things on the way.

  • I wake up in the morning. There's paper and pencil next to the bed to catch the gems before they are lost.

    Or take a shower.

Ideas have a way of popping up anytime, in any setting. Unless I'm forcing the solution. I agree with Giannina. Fun and relaxed are the way to go.

"The Einstein Factor" by Win Wenger is full of excellent techniques. His image streaming process is very effective, in my experience. There is a description of the technique at his web site. http://www.winwenger.com/

  • Hi Leif,

There's so many, how do I chose?

Robert Ringer - His advice on posture, personal power, dealing with the intimidation tactics of other people and taking action is unsurpassed, in my opinion. Though "Thick Face, Black Heart" by Chin-ning Chu comes close.

There's an emerging speaker who is very good. Spike Humer. He has an impressive background and is currently working with Jay Abraham at The Abraham Group.

  • Tia,

It's a little late for the discussion but here's a link to a free pdf on Masterminding by a mentor of mine. They want an email but I didn't get any spam from them and unsubscribed without a problem.

Hope it helps. I would also recommend Napoleon Hill's Law of Success. The updated 21st Century Edition is fantastic.

I've been facilitating a Mastermind for a bit over a year and a half. Well worth doing if you're so inclined.

  • Wonderful event! Thank you Lori, Tshombe, Lara and Dan.

The Gateway Centre was a great location for hosting, too.

The discussion of how the site works was very helpful. I have already formulated some interesting strategies for leveraging Biznik.

  • Excellent! I really like the category idea coupled with the search engine optimization.

I'm pondering how to make the most of what Biznik has to offer. As what I'm doing might be a bit out of the mainstream. I'm not actually looking for clients or consulting opportunities.

Time to do some exploring to see what gems are here that I'm not aware of yet.

  • Thanks Dan. I'm looking forward to the 17th, too.

BTW: I googled "eric cole" this morning. My Biznik profile popped up on the 2nd page. And on page 3 when I googled "Business Growth Strategist."

Strike that, I just tried again. Now my profile comes up on page #1 on Google using "Business Growth Strategist" as the keywords.

    Very impressive!
