What Erin does

Working at the American Cancer Society for nearly six years lead me to my passion in technology and especially social media. Through my changing roles I realized how much easier it was for volunteers to engage with the organization, connect with one another and control their own fund-raising. When I started designing and building RelayForLife.org I discovered the power of user generated content mixed with the burgeoning open source CMS, Drupal.

To me social media should be an extension of your every day life and not something you have to think about. Social networking is something we do every day and the online and mobile delivery should enhance, not hinder the user's experience.

Raised in a family of engineers has offered me the nerd-perspective, which I find to be a valuable skill I rely on daily. I thrive in an environment of creativity, varying perspectives and the combination of high-touch and technology.

Social networking strategy and implementation, online community building, blogging strategy, brand sentiment research, user experience, non-profit fund-raising, micro-philanthropy, web marketing, newsletter/ email campaigns, segmentation, web analytics, public speaking, open-source software evangelism, Drupal project management and implementation.

What Erin does best

Work closely with anyone who wants to use social media to build their business. I love watching people find effective ways to broaden their companies reach using social networking, blogging and community building.

What does Erin need?

I would like to work with anyone who is trying to find new ways to market their company through social networking, web marketing and blogging. It would also be helpful to connect up with other people who are web designers, UI/UX designers, IA designers and of course open-source programmers. I'm a highly collaborative person and would love to work on projects with other freelancers and also give referrals.
