I've been donating my web-mastering time to a couple of animal organizations for a very long time now (going on 10 years).
That, and taking care of my corgi and two bunnies. :)
I get the Etsy emails every day, and try to resist buying all of the great stuff. So, if you can get featured in their emails, or home page galleries, I see the benefit. I also occasionally browse Etsy by keyword - looking for all the bunny stuff, for example.
I'm just now really getting into Biznik after having a profile for a while. And, at the same time, just getting into Twitter.
I'm elfdesign on Twitter.
A solo-preneur may be very different from a soul-preneur. Some people do their business from the perspective of wanting to help their clients, and if their best clients are different enough from them, then they may need to have a logo that says more to their clients than to them directly. That's all I mean by that.
And, some people go into the logo design process looking for a personal symbol - and not for something that would have meaning to their audience, necessarily. It's important to balance both.
