  • Hey Mark thanks... for your insight. That is the reason I asked my "friends" for their opinions. I hope it has given you a better perspective, and ultimately a better understanding of how doing the most basic & "simple" SEO can help. I believe all small business on the Internet should know the basics or at the very least should be able to do their own albeit limited SEO. lolol love your Whooops. Again many thanks.

  • We use WP for all our blogs (we have 5) We have gone beyond the "free" and actually Bought DIY themes. No regrets and it has been worth every dollar.

Our company writes blogs for clients and we post anywhere from 50 to 200 posts a month. The useful plug-ins and easy layout is a breeze. I am glad you wrote this now I can send my clients and colleagues here rather than spending almost an hour trying to explain simple basic functions.

  • Bottom line is Twitter should be a dialogue and not a monologue period.

  • Excellent article, I had to share it with my Twitter followers. So many people are scrambling to re-invent themselves. I have been an "Entrepreneur" for over 15 years I have never looked back nor do I have any regrets. Where else can I take my time to read articles and post comments without feeling guilty about not "working"? Thank you and Bravo! Oo my Twitter name is @SEOcopy

  • Hey Abey, here I was trying to read a different point of view alas the link is dead or just was not "tiny-url's" properly.

Different view points are what make the world go round. Thank God for that. Let me also add, I am familiar with StomperNet, and as much as I respect what they have done I don't always agree with their opinions. Looking forward to the link!

  • When you love what you do it's not longer work. When you have faith in yourself you become your own inspiration... Maybe it's my "work" ethics but I have yet to meet a client more valuable than my happiness. Thank you so much for your copy, you are spot on! Gabriella

  • We use niche forums, articles directories, blogs, Twitter, and of course LinkedIn. We have advised clients to do the same. It's however not easy doing 50 things at once. We know clients are busy with their own daily "to do" list therefore managing their SM is not something they can do for themselves. That is where we suggest spending at least 20-40 minutes per day, feeding those networks.

  • I have been using Twitter now for about 6 months. It has brought us new business and about 20% more traffic to our website. Granted using it daily does become cumbersome and sometimes you really cannot effectively engage.

What I have found are tools as you have that will schedule posts for you. Unfortunately you are not there therefore the pulse and the conversation is lost. I have tried keep in a window open with Twitter and keeping up by reading my replies. But I can guarantee you if someone wants your attention and they know you then email or DM is always an option. I suggest using it for about 20-45 minutes a day. It's a good way to see, learn and eventually add more followers.

Sure we are still in the honeymoon stage but unless someone can find a new way to get that many people under one roof then Twitter will remain the Golden child of the Internet.

  • Diana you of all people know that the old way of doing things is dying. Now the buzz is "Inbound Marketing"

In outbound marketing, the “traditional” way, companies use poorly targeted techniques to bring in customers. They use radio and T.V. advertising, spam, cold-calling, print advertising, junk mail and more. In other words, they use every method that most people get irritated about.

These techniques are long out-dated, less effective and more expensive, thanks to technology. TiVo, spam filters, caller ID that blocks cold calls and tools like RSS render print and visual advertising almost useless. While these methods of advertising still work to some extent, it’s much more expensive.

The Three Components of a Successful Inbound Marketing Campaign

    1. Content: Every Inbound Marketer knows that content is king. Information and persuasive writing, helpful tips and tools help attract potential customers to the company’s website or business.

    2. Search Engine Optimization: Potential customers find this informative content much easier through SEO. Building your site, and building up inbound links to your site, through optimization and website design “best practices” maximizes your search engine rankings. SEO brings your product, website or company into the public’s eye, so they can begin the buying process.

    3. Social Media: When the content is truly helpful, informative and interesting, people tend to discuss it with their friends, family, co-workers etc. Distributed across several networks, it gains credibility and authenticity, making it more likely to draw people to your website.

As usual I love your writing and you are my favorite Marketing Goddess. Excellent copy as usual.

  • Alyssa, I noticed that happening more and more. I actually had a client that hired a web design company who charged an exorbitant amount for the design and did nothing about the source yet they told him it was SEO ready. I am still in awe at how many have SEO as part of their services yet, even the basics of SEO are not addressed... unless of course, the client wanted to pay an additional $2500. Lol I have heard this at least 3 times in the last month. Crazy world I tell you.

  • Hey Alyssa yeah it should be obvious, with that said I am surprised at how many clients we get that have had their website "SEO'd" with no clear proof. As much as "standards" should be followed, there are so many different (SEO guru's) out there regular people have no idea what "standards" in SEO are. Thanks for your positive comment :)

  • I happened across a great article today, and wanted to share it. It basically reports "...However, Google has been using LSI for some time and has recently increased its weighting. This means that while traditional keyword based search queries are still relevant - i.e., Google still tries to retrieve documents that contain the specific search terms or keywords you use - Google’s search algorithm has begun to place more importance on LSI when attempting to determine and retrieve relevant documents for a specific search query." • Jacqueline glad you found it useful. The truth is people still do not understand how to use the Internet to their advantage. They are still under the delusion that if they have a website people will show up. They don't realize that for every page they have there is someone who has 40 more pages on the same topic. SEO/SEM is a constant I don't know of too many people that actually have a successful business online without a monthly dose of SEO. Regards, Gabriella

  • Thanks Gentlemen

I appreciate the positive feedback. And yes SEO needs to be well planned before you even think of creating a new website. A lot of clients have no clue.

I have seen clients pay thousands of dollars to have a website designed with all the bells and whistles and they forget the most important thing is content and tag descriptions.

Simple, sure but the web design company forgets to add those things. And if the client wonders why their site has no traffic especially since they just forked out tons of $ well... you know the answer now. Gabriella

  • Honesty, integrity, and the joi de vivre that is wonderful. Always think ahead with passion. I cannot tell you how many times I have woken up in a sweat afraid of what the next day may bring... It's called success. AS hard as we have worked for it we deserve it. Thanks for reminding me of that!
