oh wow, cool! thanks Lara.
I missed this happening due to Burning Man... will there be other opportunities in the future to get a cool badge, I hope?
Wow, I'm so glad I could be a part of that truly-inspiring event... even though I had to leave to go to another meeting before I could make it to the front of the line... (argh, bummed about that... maybe I'll make my own video! :)
Thanks and love to you Dan and Lara, and Blessings to you all!
Gwen
wow, what a guest list, i'm excited to see so many of you tonight! enjoy the sun!
thank you! this is a beautifully inspiring, well-written and smart message to take in right now. perfect timing. blessings!
Just returned from traveling and I was hoping to get back in the Biznik mix... alas, I'm wrangling jetlag and am going to have to cancel. Soon, though...
This was a great article! Thank you!

maybe this has already been mentioned... but i just did a search for a member with a particular specialty, and was able to view the first page of search results but then... clicking to see subsequent pages of the search results just put me back to the whole pool of members.
Thanks Dan. Since my newsworthy item was last week, I feel like I need to get my press release out ASAP -- before Danielle's class next week. I chatted with her on the phone for a few minutes, though (thanks Danielle!) and she was of the same opinion -- an email with the text in the body is a good way to go. That's probably what I'll do for most of my contacts; however, I've discovered that some media on their web sites specifically request hard copy press releases. So it seems that there's no one concrete way to approach it.
I also found this great "Media Access Guide" from the Seattle Times website:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/contactus/media/media_access_guide.pdf
Tons of great info there.
I've experimented with both approaches. Right now I'm posting my fees, and this is working out well. I definitely get fewer inquiries, but more of the inquiries I do get turn into clients. Basically, I'm wasting less time communicating with people who aren't willing to pay my fees. Plus I used to have to experience discomfort when having money discussions with potential clients -- now I let my website do that. Anyone who contacts me after having read it is approaching me with a good understanding of my terms. That feels much easier and better and lighter.
Hi Sara,
Hmm... i just thought of: Wonder Works Creative. wonderworkscreative.com is available! it's a somewhat long domain, but i do think it rolls off the tongue pretty well and is aptly descriptive and doesn't make me think of push-up bras... ;)
Gwen
I went to one a couple months back at the zoo. It was great and I found it to be a really great community and networking opportunity. I definitely plan to attend more in the future...
Ooh, yes please! Sounds like fun, getting to look at and touch all those fabulous clothes.
I'm available Thursday night. Also monday evening until about 8. I'm in seattle... can I be of assistance?
Gwen
I should add... that this will likely involve some fairly intricate cabinetry and shelving along with the desks and drawers... everything you'd want for optimal office usage and storage.
I cannot wait to see what our fearless leaders have been creating for Biznik 2.0...
Thank you thank you!
This is all such fabulous advice and stuff I hadn't thought of. All of a sudden I feel much more prepared to make this a truly valuable experience -- serious, focused, and productive. I feel really inspired about this helping me make progress toward my life and work goals, and being able to help someone else too.
I've already found my partner for this venture, but other people interested in partnering up for some peer-coaching should feel free to post to this topic to find each other.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Gwen
I'm tentatively interested -- this looks like an excellent and empowering book.
I think I found a good one. I chatted a long time with a cool chick - Abbie Berry - who sounds fabulous. Sent her an invite too!
Well, it's pretty obvious, but I feel that one of the best things to do right away is to make a beautiful business card that you love. For me, having a beloved little piece of paper that said who I was and what I did was really empowering. It's like the object form helps create the thought form helps birth the entity into being really real... and of course, it makes all that networking productive because it keeps working (the card is still out there) even when you're not.
It's awesome, Dan. It is probably the best-formatted, slickest, most user-friendly newsletter that has come through my mailbox. I love the text down the middle with the pics on the side. Interesting content. Nice concise copy. Well done!
Thanks everybody. I'll make some calls tomorrow and figure out if I've found someone to refer. And I'll ask them to join Biznik!
Second that... I wrote you one, but where is it? Did you receive the email to accept it or did that go missing too?
I would LOVE for you to offer that class! I've got that book and have started it, but would love a guide in using it... please please!
Thanks...
Gwen
That was an excellent class. A ton of info, well presented, easy to digest.
It inspired me -- I just got done doing a minor rewrite of my website copy (I know, I know... I should hire Chris...). Trying to focus more on benefits, using "I" and being more conversational, narrowing my focus, and asking for action.
Thanks, Chris and Dominic!
