  • what about that new tagline?

What do people think of "collaboration beats competition"? I like the idea.....just feels like it needs tweaking.

I especially like the idea of collaboration. I've experienced a lot of that through Biznik. I've also been inspired to refine my marketing and message.

What about "inspired collaboration" or "indie collaboration"...

  • Linking and Backtracking to other's blogs

As there is no search function on the new site, please forgive me if I'm repeating an old ditty.

What is the difference between having a "link" button that is ongoing on one's blogsite, and specifically "backtracking" to some other blog?

Does one bring traffic to one's blogsite by linking to other blogs permanently, or through individual postings? And should it be of similar content? And what if there isn't that much Seattle alternative health blogging going on?

What I tend to do is create links to NYTimes articles that seem important to my line of work. But how to get more than 12 people a day reading my blog? Even more pertinant, how to get people in SEATTLE reading my blog?

I've checked out blogher, but the health section has some very conservative writers and content. I've tried interacting with several writers and didn't get much response. There's one very cool health/ fertility writer blog I have a link to, but she is in Rhode Island - nice but not really relevent to driving more Seattle people to my blog - or is it?

I guess so far I've accepted that maybe the main purpose of blogging for me is to help prospective clients get a taste of who I am as a person, my views, and how compatible we may be.

    feedback???

  • Any other indie chocolate worshippers out there?

It actually has health benefits! And mythology confers both fertility and creativity upon the bean....now what indie couldn't use a little of all of the above?

I think we ought to have an event, ala wine-tasting. My favorite at the moment is Dagoba's xocolatl -- with chilies and chocolate nibs. After writing my latest blog entry about chocolate (and consumed simultaneously - woo hoo) I looked up at one of my paintings and it was 3D. Of course, that could be from staring at the computer screen too long......;-)

  • Share my office downtown?

I'm only in town Tues, Thurs, and Fri. That leaves Mon, Wed, Sat (and Sun if you're that kinda person) to share my office space.

The office is about 400 sf with a waiting room, sink and mini fridge, top floor with a great view, in a beautiful historic building downtown near Macy's. Easy bus access, in-building parking, etc.

I practice medicine, so the space has a desk and chairs, a very roomy area with a treatment table and some cabinets; the sink/fridge/storage area is curtained off. It's an ideal space for an acupuncturist, massage therapist, psychotherapist, or coach.

$150/per day/month, i.e. if you wanted to rent it 2 days a week, would be $300. Killer deal for a furnished space for the right person just starting out. Or maybe you want a second office.

extra perk: this building has a fantastic community of alt practitioners that meet every other month for a social event.

Call or email with interest. thanks! Dr. Hannah 206-650-9197

  • I'm on TV tonight

I'll be interviewed on the Seattle community channel (77) at 6:30 p.m. by a Naturopathic doctor on the subject of fertility and preconception care tonight.

For those experienced in such gigs, what kinds of things should be included, what to be avoided when discussing one's business?

    I fear those deer-in-the-headlights moments.

  • content management help out there?

I would like to shift my web pages onto a system like Joomla so it's easier to tweak things. At the moment my sister's the webmaster and she can't keep up with my need for upgrading.

I'm wondering if anybody out there has know-how that might be interested in trading the 10 or so estimated hours of work for original artwork or Naturopathic care?

  • Computer data backup

    What are people using?

I've been using the .mac service to back up data online. It costs $99/year to continue that service. If I discontinue the service, data is gone, i.e. I'd need another way/strategy to save data.

What makes the most sense and is most cost efficient for a mac user?

still a newbie mac user, Hannah

  • 10 cool ways to beat the heat workshop

Are people interested in this offer? I know there are a couple other events happening the same night, and unfortunately we didn't consult with each other before booking our various gigs.

If people indicate some interest I will reschedule. Please let me know...otherwise I'll assume that Biznikers are already cool as cucumbers.......

  • know a good ezine service?

I'm not pleased with ezine director. Not user friendly, and when I phone up they have a recording that says call back later, we're busy. How do you like that for service!?

So, what ezine services are people using and liking? I've got a smallish list so far and was paying $0. But willing to spend $5-10/month.

    thanks!

  • building a website

Since I've received no responses either re: barter--request to provide healthcare and/or giclee art prints for building a website, I'd like to know what people charge per hour and a rough estimate of what it costs to build an art commerce website. My impression has been that many thousands of dollars go into the making of such a site, which, hey, if I had many thousands of dollars I probably wouldn't need to promote through BikNik now would I?!

One of the major draws of this group in my mind is some of the ways we can help each other promote business, and the support we give each other on many levels. Many of us don't have the cash flow to put out there for advertizing etc, which is why we offer free seminars, free treatments or discounts, barters for BizNikers, testimonials, etc.

I will also look on Craigslist and put out the word in general to friends, since I'm sure there are people for whom healthcare is unavailable or inaccessible who really need and want it, i.e. getting bodywork weekly. In the meantime if anyone on this site would like to email me with quotes that would be great...there may be some kind of compromize, i.e. partial barter out there.

    Thanks!
