Robert, thanks for the article. It touches on a some thoughts I have for reinventing the business model for my contract work. It also reminds me a lot of the work the Robert Cialdini has done in the work of persuasion and influence. I had the fortune of having him as a guest lecture while working on my MBA at Arizona State University, and continue to be "influenced" by what I heard. In particular, his rule of reciprocity is that when you give freely to another, with out expectation of return, they are touched in a way that leaves a strong desire to reciprocate in equal or greater measure.
