Why isn't my event showing up in the list of Seattle events?
The option for sending a message to all the people who've RSVP'd to an event is absent from the options list on my event page. Instead, I see the option to send a message to the host, which is me. As much as I like me, I don't really need to send myself a message. Is this a known issue?
Kathleen, here we are again! I'm so glad that I saw you at PCC and then again here on Biznik -- in part because I found this cool event. Yay. Looking forward to it, and to seeing you again. Heidi
Hi Suzanne, Since I work full-time in Redmond, an evening event would be easier for me. If the consensus is for a work day, Monday, Thursday, or Friday afternoon would be workable for me. Looking forward to hearing more. Heidi
Donna, I like this distinction. Some words I hear so often that they just go flat and meaningless after a while. Planning and organization are two such words. Your article enlivened the words and the actions behind them. I'm going to keep this in mind as I'm working on my practice. Thanks for the refresher and the vivid examples.
Here's another great quote that I love having some place that I can see it often. It restores my courage when monkey mind doubts have had their way with me:
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, nor how it compares to other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open."
-- Martha Graham
Way to go! Isn't it amazing how writing stuff down gets us going? Sometimes I'll write something down, forget that I've written it, do the thing I wrote down, then remember..."oh yeah, I wrote that down!" At the risk of sounding woo woo, I believe that writing is sometimes magical. I suppose 'cause it's a step toward manifesting, moving from idea to material reality.
Thanks for sharing your success. It helps me to keep going when I see someone else overcome an obstacle.
Whether or not Goethe is the originator of this quotation, it's a good one!
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."
Yes, I think the idea of chunking is a good way to start. Is it hard to start because you keep doubting that you're starting in the right place? Sounds like you need to get momentum working for you. Start anywhere. Patricia's right about selling books on Amazon. I made over a thousand dollars doing that several years ago. And the process is rather fun.
Start small. Set a small goal. Choose one of those things you'd rather be doing, and set it as a reward for meeting the small decluttering goal. Start, and the momentum will build.
And let us know how it's going.
Thanks, Suzi. This is helpful information, presented in an easily digestible format. I like that you address both the emotional resistance we create and the practical steps we can take to better prepare ourselves for opportunity.
Oh, I wish I'd caught this before it filled up. I'm thinking a lot these days about how to use my 4-ness to my advantage in all the things I need to do to promote and build my practice. I'll keep an eye out for the next time you offer it.
Patricia,
Thank you for sharing all that you've learned about publishing. Even as a writing coach, I learned a lot. I walked away feeling inspired and confident. As soon as I got home I started working on my list of chapters. Your presentation style is warm, funny, and engaging. Like Susan, I just may attend your next session!
Hi Suzanne, I'm interested. I just became a Biznik member less than a week ago. I'm okay with what I've got up on my page, but I'm not wild about it. So yes, if you hear back from others, I'm definitely up for a working session to share, improve, write, think, revise. Thanks for putting this out there.
Patricia, I really like the way you presented/framed this event -- the open questions and the relaxed "let's see what flashes of insight appear".
Looking forward to participating in your event this coming Friday.
Heidi
Rachel, I haven't even read past the title and the summary yet, but I love that you wrote about this subject. Being new to Biznik, I'm noticing some of these little "compare and despair" moments popping up as I peruse others' pages. Thanks for looking at this demon head-on. I know I'll get a lot out of reading the article.
