John... I love to talk about Scott Ginsberg, author of 8 books (I've read 2) who is still wearing his name-tag (3,298 days currently) that has made him famous as That Nametag Guy.
His URL is www.HelloMyNameIsScott.com
His Blog is www.HelloMyNameIsScott.blogspot.com
Although I have not met him yet, he inspired me to start my sales consultancy career as That Sales Guy after reading his book, How To Be That Guy and later The Power Of Approachability.
You may already know him as he is based only 234 miles east of you in St. Louis. I think his small company is worth mentioning because of his books and the impact he has on his audiences.
After I add Duct Tape Marketing to my library, I may find another mention to add to the Marketing Category.
Jeffrey Gitomer of www.Gitomer.com comes to mind immediately in the Sales Training Category. He replaced Zig Ziglar in my coral of mentors a few years back. I highly recommend his Little Red Book of Selling.
In the Quick Service Restaurant Category, I've been a fan of In-N-Out Burger since the early 1960's. So much so, that I opened my own clone of one in 1966. You can only find them in the Southwest, but if you've never experienced them, you must.
During a 2 hour flight lay-over in Las Vegas once, I hired a taxi to take me through the nearest In-N-Out Burger Drive-Thru because I had not had a "Double-Double" in over a year. The driver was pleasantly surprised that he was un-aware of such a great place in his own back yard.
BTW. I picked that particular cross-country flight because of the opportunity to have lunch at in-n-out.
You can find them at www.in-n-out.com
I could go on and on because I love to observe the small things that make such a big difference in the success of various businesses, but I've already hi-jacked your post, so I'll get off for others to voice their favorites.
