  • Chris.. I loved your post. I look forward to meeting you someday at a Biznik event for some free off-line advice. Keep the "free advice" coming on-line and I promise never to sidle up to your desk at Office Nomads... Howard

  • Dan... Thank you.

Let's ALL not forget that Biznik is BUSINESS networking. Yes we are social souls also, but our ultimate goal is BUSINESS connections. Our on-line relationships must be as honest and truthful as in the old-days when we did everything "in person". Sometimes we may get a little silly with Biztalk banter, but we still need to feel comfortable with who we are communicating with. Real names will make for Real Business... Howard

BTW: My stage name is "That Lease Guy" and I've never had a problem promoting it using my real name.

  • Dan... This sound like a great feature. I have been considering doing a Blog after reading some of the Biztalk posts recently, but I think this Article idea would probably suit me better. Will articles that we author be picked up by Google with keywords within the content? ... Howard

  • Dan... I support the "Real Name" policy, and even though the profile of Chief Show Off is real cool, I don't understand why he can't use his real name and put his "brand name" and picture in the logo area.

The real name and the real face picture goes a long way towards developing trust in a relationship. Just my two cents worth. ....Howard

  • It's been over 2 months since I posted this question. I guess Bizniks have all the money they need for their biz. I'd like to invite anyone that wants to explore this topic in person to one of my Greet-Eat-Meet events, or to post their comments here if you prefer. Thanks.

  • I think I'm pretty good at being sensitive to the mood and facilitating thought provoking questions and spuring on discussion and debate. I've done some classes that lasted an hour after a 5 min intro and I never had to say another word.

I am interested in ways to break the ice with groups that do no know each other previously.

  • Alex: I awarded a prize to all for participating, although you need to attend one of my GEM events to claim it. Everyone did a great job. I really like your new pic in the monitor with the tree in the background. Very good including all 3 elements.

Elizabeth: Great organization of the Festive PEZ dispensers. Is that you in row 3, position 1?

  • OK ... Thanksgiving is over now... We have many other Holidays coming up. My challenge to you is to post your Profile Pic to include these 3 elements:

    • Your Real Face (we still need to instill trust)
    • Your current Holiday theme
    • Your radical self-promotion element

Notice that my example represents my business of "Renting Money to Biz Owners". I'm so easy to work with that I sometime feel like Santa all year long.

Who's up to my challenge? Post it here!

    • Scott: ? is a Turkey
    • Howard: the money Turkey
    • Alex: The stolen Turkey
    • Amy: from Tigger to seasonally appropriate

Each of you who partcipated are entitled to a drink or desert on me at any of my GEM events. You must remind me though to claim your prize.

  • Joe ... Just checking in during half-time and to let you know that I just made an invite from the Thanksgiving Table. Do I get extra points for mixing Biznik gratitude with family activities? ..Howard

  • There are too many of you on line right now. Stop and go eat Turkey. I am.

Posted Nov 22, 2007 Thanks be giving for Biznik..... by Howard Howell
  • Dan.. Thank you for that new addition idea. All the things you keep doing is why I think Biznik is so great. That is another reason I have never really gone beyond just joining LinkedIn and those 'other' networks. Biznik is the only one worth participating in. I consider all the other's just a place to post a static listing.

    BTW: Happy Thanksgiving .... Howard

  • Thanks for your participation.

Elizabeth has organized her leaves. Andrey has a monster turkey stalking him. Kevin sells real small phones. Barry has a Homer Simpson complex. William has one ugly Turkey, but it's "back is up". Scott must be a Turkey. Howard's Turkey, of course, rents money.

The challenge was "relevant". I should have added along the Biznik theme of "shameless self-promotion". Good luck to all and any others that join in on this Holiday silly-ness. I will announce a winner (and my decision is final) the day after. ......Howard

  • Stephen... Thank you for sharing this article with us. It is contributions like this that enhance the Biznik experience and make this a great community.

BTW.. I am in a rather "non-glamorus" profession of business finance and have been attempting to brand myself as That Lease Guy in a very crowded field. It is tips like this that help considerably. Thank you again for sharing something of value. ....Howard

  • Bill.. It is my exprience that most people buy emotionaly, not logically. Fact in point: I met you in person at one of my GEM events and bought from you because of our "real world" connection, and the fact that your online picture and profile matched you in the real world.

If we had not met, I probably would not have had the "trust" to purchase otherwise. Now, isn't that sort of silly. Why in the world does that make anyone more "trustworthy". It doesn't make sense does it?

My advice: follow the good advice given on this tread from experts who've showed that that they "care" and have shared with you and remember that: "Perceptiion is Reality". .....Howard

  • Welcome Jacob. Biznik is a great on-line networking tool, but I find your "promotion" to be evasive and sure sounds like MLM to me. Have you read the Biznik policy of NO MLM prior to your posting?

If your biz is not a MLM, then I suggest you tell us what it is really about.
