I'm not sure how late things will be going. Some folks will be working throughout the day. We'll just see how it goes. We have lots of donuts! See you soon.

Mike, You are exactly right and I was very happy to see this article. This Christmas I bought all my gifts on etsy.com and tried to buy from Seattle vendors mostly.
Cynthia,
I hear you about going solo being lonely. We built Office Nomads for just that reason. I'm excited that people are understanding the value of human interaction. Coworking spaces are opening up all over and Biznik has something going on every night. You are not alone. :)

If folks in Seattle are interested, I'd love to host a discussion on the topic. Tara, do you ever make it this way?
I've heard it called many things and I'm excited to see it growing. When I embarked on opening a coworking space in April of last year I knew that traditional business values were not for me. In the past year and a half I have gotten up on my soap box many times and when I look around I see many people who get it. You are correct, our time has come and we are not alone. I try to explain this when I tell folks what Office Nomads is but in a world where people are focused on stuff my words are lost. Susan and I decided early on to not waste energy talking at people and instead just invite people to come in and see for themselves. It's the fastest way to find the Cultural Creatives that I've found.
Karsten,
Office Nomads has a room available that seats 10-20 people. There is ethernet directly in the table and we have a 10Mbit internet connection. Our rate is $200 for the room or if you only have a few people and are going to be less then 2 hours $25/person. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 6PM. Come down any time and we'll show you around.

Norman,
The community is our primary focus at Office Nomads. Seattle has enough desks and our business isn't about providing more. We've been very active within Biznik hosting events, meetings, and socials inviting people to be a part of what we are building. There are many ways to go about encouraging community and the best way to get a feel for how we do it is to come in and work here and see if it's right for you. We don't charge for your first visit specifically so you can try us out. A good fit is essential.

Last april I asked the same question and since then I have been working with Susan Evans to open Office Nomads. We've got a beautiful office on Capitol Hill and things have been going great. We have both traveled around to visit the various coworking places scattered about and I just got back from SxSW where we had a very large attendance of coworking founders from San Francisco to Paris.
If you are looking to open another space I would love to share notes and talk to you about what we needed to do to make it happen.
Copy cats would be great! I was only able to do so much so fast because of the work done by others before me. I would love to see these popping up all over the place. Work space is more universal then coffee yet we don't have as many alternatives.

Funny I left there at 5:30. Next time.
There is another space on Capital Hill. It's smaller, 5500sqft vs 7500sqft, but the numbers add up to be about the same cost.

It's the age old debate: Capital Hill vs Ballard.

Yes, that's the idea once we get up and running. First I need to find 20 people to commit to this space so I can secure the lease and get a business loan.
What email address would you like me to use for the Office Nomads Happy Hour? We are doing it in the same place at the same time this week if you are free.
