What Jane does

I am an award-winning graphic designer/illustrator with many years of experience in designing newspaper and magazine advertisements, brochures and 3-dimensional displays. I have designed everything from business cards to a blimp in the form of a rolled-up Oregonian newspaper.

What Jane does best

Communicate with my clients and discern their needs through active listening. I view each client as a partner and collaborator, not just a revenue stream.

Past clients have written to me that I have "read their mind" and produced designs that surpassed their highest expectations.

What does Jane need?

I am curious about other career ideas (it's a time in my life to look beyond what I've already done to what I might yet do). Maybe someone with contacts or experience in any of these fields has advice/encouragement regarding: • Theater Arts: sets, make-up • Interior Design • Art Therapy • Travel Writing • Photography • Events planning

Education

I studied design and illustration at Portland State University and the Pacific N.W College of Art. While a student at P.S.U., I conceived and illustrated a short animated film which was shown at the Northwest Film Festival in Portland, and later at the New York Film Festival.

Experience

I am a self-employed designer, and part of a strategic partnership with Mannex Marketing (May 2009 - Present). I provide graphic solutions for complex communications problems. Previously, I was a Graphic Designer at Publishers Creative Services (1986 to 1-31-2009.) I designed all types of printed materials, including newspaper and magazine advertisements as well as pamphlets, posters and 3-dimensional displays. I also drew product and fashion illustrations, and designed logos for various retailers and organizations.
