I use ProPay. It's an online service and I don't have any credit card processing machinery. I just go to the website and run the card. It's great, easy, and secure. It probably isn't a good solution for a business that runs credit cards on a daily basis, but it works for me.

I have donated several gift certificates to auctions, as well as selling gift certificates. I found that often times the recipients want to "upgrade"...such as the gift certificate is for a dinner for two, and they want to invite some friends. So I end up getting a little revenue as a result, plus touching a few more people to build my client base.
I would recommend it, but be choosy about the causes, you don't have to give them to every cause that approaches you, and make sure what your giving isn't going to break the bank if it's redeemed.
