Judge Jeanine Pirro's career has been a series of milestones for women in the legal profession. After serving as the Assistant District Attorney in Westchester County, New York, where she started one of the first domestic violence units in the nation, Jeanine Pirro was elected to the bench as the first female County Court Judge in Westchester's history. In 1992, Judge Pirro was rated the number one judge of all Supreme and County Court Criminal Judges in Westchester County by the Independent Fund for Modern Courts. In 1993, Jeanine Pirro was elected the first female District Attorney in Westchester County and was re-elected to that position in 1997 and 2001. After announcing she would not pursue a fourth term as the District Attorney of Westchester County, Jeanine Pirro continued to be a vocal advocate for crime victims as a legal analyst and judicial commentator on national news programming.
While a courtroom prosecutor, Jeanine Pirro maintained a 100% conviction rate, garnering her much praise and recognition for her work in putting murderers, rapists, and domestic violence perpetrators behind bars. In 1997, Jeanine Pirro chaired the New York State Commission on Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board, whose findings led to legislation being passed that increased protections and safeguards for domestic violence victims. She is a pioneer in prosecuting Internet crime; her innovative approach to apprehending Internet criminals led to the creation of one of the first Internet pedophile sting operations in the United States netting doctors, lawyers, priests, coaches and school superintendents with a 100% conviction rate.
