What Jeffree does
Over the last ten years, around the edges of my work in shoreline management, I've worked as an independent curator, facilitating exhibitions of works by northwest artists in a 322,000 square foot building-Washington Department of Ecology Headquarters- just north of Olympia. Work by 20 or so artists can be viewed by appointment at any given time.
We look for work that reflects in some way on the the natural, built, and social environment of the northwest....and thus relates to the various kinds of work being done by the Department of Ecology....whose employees are the primary audience. Over the years, paintings, sculpture, and installations of various kinds have been an inspiring presence in this exceptionally beautiful and light-filled building.
What Jeffree does best
Painting, drawing, and printmaking are my main mediums as an artist. My work is done in various scales, generally two dimensional. Northwest atmospheres and landscapes as well as colorful abstract compositions on various themes account for much of my oeuvre. Sketches of people in public places are a daily practice, and I attend life drawing sessions frequently.
