  • I am happy to announce the launch of my newest company (in addition to maintaining Rellihan Satterlee, since I enjoy straddling the creative and editorial worlds). The intent behind the new company is to seamlessly connect creative entities with one another, in a way that is direct and leaves very little question as to what need is attempting to be filled. The service stems mostly from my former years – another professional lifetime ago - of agenting a talent pool of photographers, illustrators and representation of architectural work for which guessing the needs of art directors, creative directors or editors was a crapshoot at best. This service allows both sides of the creative fences to have a brief conversation / exchange, and serves to alleviate the superfluous waste often associated with the constant barrage of promotional materials.

It's really simple. Ask, receive. Wish, and allow it to be granted.

It's FREE. Subscribe and wait anxiously for the Daily Wish List emails that will come to your inbox daily - from me - and full of brief yet fun info from the expansive world of the creative.

Who should use it? Anyone that creates or is in need of those with creative talent. We will even have job posting for the creative community. If you have a great product, we do have sponsorships of the daily emails, so email me for information on how to get in front a captive audience of creative folks who could use your product or service. Our sponsorship rates are compellingly low priced. But that's another subject. For now, check out the website.

    Here is all you do:

    Go to the site www.genieeye.com

Subscribe for free (you can unsubscribe anytime - though I'm certain you will not want to miss the information exchange).

If you have a creative request (e.g. you are an art director seeking an illustrator that specializes in Ecuadorian nature pencil sketches), make the request. If not, sit back and see what sorts of requests come in that might be specific to your talent. If you are a fashion designer in Aspen and a producer suddenly needs a local designer to work on-set in Telluride with a film crew for 3 days, well, you have the info and can respond!

Join today and see what it’s all about! Tell your friends to join also. Everyone at some point in her business career requires a creative entity; therefore, you deserve to subscribe to Genie Eye.

In gratitude and as you wish,

    Jenée www.genieeye.com

  • I appreciate your sharing that even in a perceived down economy it's not about lowering fees. Yes, offering package options that will cater to tight budgets is a viable alternative, but one of the biggest mistakes in our own businesses and within the overall markets we serve is in lowering fees. It sets a precedent for undermining the overall value of the services we provide AND it creates a domino-effect in the particular industries we serve by ultimately lowering customary rates within the industry. It's simply bad all the way around, frankly.

Thanks for the reminder. Value your business and customers will keep showing up.

  • Karrie... I love it. It seems to fall in line with my good friend Jody in San Francisco who recently made his desk a podium so he could stand vs. sit while he works. "sitting is not sustainable" - right on!

Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else!

  • Karrie, Your insight and suggestions remain as valuable within this article as they are in working with you directly as your client. You never cease to amaze me. Really. You think of everything, thoroughly, and you are such an inspiration to me.
    Gratefully... Jenée

  • Susan, It's a pleasure and honor to know you.
The small step approach is working nicely for me this very day. Between the work I am doing with Karrie Kohlhaas and the techniques learned in your class last night, I am unstoppable in 2008 and beyond! I am grateful for all Biznik offers me! Jenée
